Best Buy has 100-pk Memorex CD-Rs 32024580 for $29.99 (after instant rebate) ($20 MIR also applies)

Target has 100-pk Memorex CD-Rs $19.77 no rebates.

Pricematch at BB for 110% of the difference ($11.24)

This makes the BB ones $18.75 less $20 rebate or $1.25 to the good. That $1.25 will just about cover taxes on the $18.75 for me.

The only hitch I see might be that the picture of the BB ones looks like 16X and the picture of the Target ones says 40X. The actual product at BB might be 40X as I have seen that same thing happen before. Worth checking out.

From Aug 25 newspaper circular.

isn't best buy likely to say that their price after rebate is cheaper, and therefore refuse to pricematch? or does best buy's policy not take rebates into consideration? i'm probably going to try it today anyways, and if it doesn't work i'll just get that free after rebate 50 pack of AT&T (Verbatim), since that's at best buy too.

I really don't need more CD-Rs, but just too tempting to pass up the TY 40X CD-Rs for almost free. To avoid any hassle by Best Buy, I just bought it first and then went straight to the customer service counter for PM, and it helped with the Target circular in hand. Got the price reduction and out of the door in less than 5 minutes, and I had good experience with Memorex rebates handled by Young America last time. An excellent deal if you can find the TY 40X or 32X spindles.

Yes they tried that to Scrap, if they are willing to give you the after rebate price immediatley I'd take them up on it. Ask them for it if they say their price is cheaper.
YMMV but Target's walk out the door price is still cheaper, stick to your guns.
Scrap probably knows their policy, I'm sure he will pop back in, guess it's going to be up to your local BB.

heh...got the PM just did not get the 110% (only the difference..) but was not thinking of that was thinking how the stubborn blonde CSR thought she was keeping the $20 MIR printout from me..
already had the rebate form printed out at home from BB.com.. 100 pk for free.. gas would cost $1..hehe

Just got back from my local BB (opened 3 days ago) and they did the PM for me. It was a hassle because nobody knows whats going on cause its a new store and the manager said they didn't PM sales from other stores!!! I was like "Uh, well then what is the point of pricematching?" She went and checked with another manager and realized they DO PM "sales" from other stores and it was all good. My reciept says 16X media though the package says 40X.

The rebate printed up after she left the register and I was out the door like a flash. $19.90 was my grand total including taxes after the 110% PM. w00t!!!

Well crap! They didn't do it for me at my store.

I ended up getting the AT&T disks although I might just go back, return them, and do what scrap did and just print out the rebate from home.

Is it just a Sunday thing or can I do it tomorrow?

Price matched with no hassle. Had the CSR scan the 100-pack to prove that they were the same as in the Target ad, as the Best Buy receipt incorrectly says that they're 16x discs.

BB pricematched the Target price for me, but the cashier refused to give me the rebate... little did he know the rebates can be found online. Hehehe.... now who's laughing.

w00t! Thank you again allisolm! Between the two CD-R deals I've seen you post, I've made $11.25!! Keep 'em coming!

Well, I got the 100pk of Memorex for the target price.. They wouldn't do the extra 10% thing, they were all saying "That's only if you buy it then come back next week and the price is lower", which I knew was BS but I was happy enough just to get these things for virtually free after rebate, so I didn't feel like arguing for the extra $1.02. Rebate printed, she didn't even say anything about the rebate, just handed the receipts to me and I walked out having paid $20.66 before the $20 rebate. Thanks for the heads up on the deal! I really needed some CDRs, as I'm trying to clear off 80 gigs of data so I can raid my new drives that I bought last week from staples for ridiculously cheap.

no, it's true. they don't do the extra 10% unless you've already bought it. the extra 10% is for the extra tax you pay.

If you read the policy, it clearly states that they will only give you 10% of the difference if you buy it and then find it cheaper. Not before.

I got this deal. It was a little bit of a hassle. The CSR wouldn't give it to me because the AR price was cheaper. But then a manager came along and told him to do it. He even printed out the rebate and rebate receipt then stapled them and handed them to me. I love the BB managers. The last time he PMed including the other stores MIR. After the BB rebate, I made $40.

If you do the PM up front, BB will probably give you some crap or at best no additional 10% reduction. That's why just buy it first and get your rebate receipt and form, then move to the customer service counter for PM. In BB's system, the price is $29.99 (as on the receipt), not $9.99, and you should get the price down to $18.75 with 110% reduction with only the Target circular and the store receipt. Keep the rebate receipt and form to yourself.

If they refuse to PM to $18.75, then just return it and try it later.

to expedite the PM process maybe or just because I still had the sales circular(both of them ..Target and BB's..) in the BB sales bag along with the CDRs and ( this is where I slipped but wasn't worrying about..a little peeved I left the extra `10% but not bothering about it..) attending paperwork..i.e. receipt and rebate printout.. is that still ..beyond me applying or resolved ..just curious..tc

Sorry Scrap,

Didn't mean to offend anyone. What I was trying to say was that CSR at the customer service counter didn't have the MIR info like the CSR at the check out counter did, so don't give them additional info to complicate the process. Just let them work with the info on the receipt.

I think I only got the 110% deal because my local store is only 3 days old. The manager helped the CSR fill out the form or whatever so they could give me the extra $1.10 back or whatever. Hopefully this sticks and they just keep on doing it from now on.....heck for all I know I was the first pricematch the store has ever had....it sure seems that way when I was checking out. Too bad I have to go back to college in a few days and I won't be near my local store anymore. (its so shiny and new, and the CSRs actually smile and are friendly......give it a month or two and that should all change)

Unforetunately this is incorrect. They do have the MIR info @ the CS counter. BB in Seattle has the worst customer service ever. I tried to PM a HD awhile ago and they wouldnt give me jack. After arguing for some time the manager simply said "NO". and she gave me the number to their corporate office and her name. So for all you ATer's living buying in Seattle, what I do is buy it then go to the Lynnwood store for any PMs or returns.

lol...I'll be one of the last to be offended on these boards esp. in HotDeals threads..it is just like acenuts posted..the CSR counter sees on their screen the total transaction and its in/outs..just said to the young lady..PM Target..she went standard spiel.."Our price lower with rebate"
so I replied .."Instantly applied?" .."uhhh..nooooo" she said..so I said.."Apply the PM to Target" (was only in there at the CS counter ..6-8 minutes tops..) got the $10 knockoffed ..and went..was not worried about the B&M rebate printout as I already had it at home.. and as far as the $1 difference..the more transactions on this the more confused the rebate house becomes..

what is "Hecho en Japan" ?

Is that something listed on the packaging of CD-Rs?

Does it make it more likely to be TY?

Just one question guys, I just did this pricematch and the girl told me that if I do it they won't give me the mail in rebate, so I said ok because I knew I can print it from the web. No the thing is that she gave me a yellow form recipt, is wider than the regular receipt and in one side it says price match with target, not mail in rebate. Do you guys think they are going to approve the rebate?

Thanks

Well, I got the same thing.. but the regular receipt and rebate receipt printed out after the girl gave me the yellow copy, and to my surprise she said, "Oh, you get a rebate, too." and handed me both the printed receipts. I got the impression if she had known there was a rebate (there were no ads for it at the shelf), she would have never pricematched. YMMV.
