Kind of sharp edges everywhere, as is I think traditional for things described as industrial.
(Quite why I'm not sure but I'm sure the all knowing net knows if it comes from architecture or design. Like that ).

The hassle is that I already have a radiator for 9x120mm fans and it would be sad to see such a fine cooler go to waste just to install an another water-block. Maybe the block could be re-used? What's the threading? Of course, that would damage the whole AIO.

Custom loop guys it would not suit true. They really should sell a naked board version for you guys

Interesting to see the launch is pretty much what I was expecting. If some of the International prices hold true.
~$600 models would be dinky coolers that will probably be equal to or worse to the founder's cooler (this doesn't mean the founder's cooler is worth $100).

Some custom cards with their own coolers in the $630-660 range.

EDIT: I read the threads wrong, those cards price's arent revealed yet, unless those prices are wrong. I'd have pegged those closers to $700.

On Topic:
I said it in another thread, that it seems reasonable that NV would want to charge a little more (okay, a lot more) for their cooler. Any AIB that made that cooler would also charge for it (most likely not $100 over MSRP).

When I took my 980 Ti cooler apart I was amazed at how nice it was. And it was a reference blower (often relegated to the trash bin). I told the GF it was a shame it would sit in a box.

Clearly NV doesn't want that either, and if it will sit in a box, they want extra money for that privilege.

Not talking about performance, aesthetics and build, the Titan cooler is definitely one of my favorites, I wouldn't pay $100 for it unless I had to, but definitely worth a little over MSRP for it ($20, $30 tops).

honestly the only time I'd look at a card is when putting it into a computer or replacing my hard drive So all I care about is noice and cooling performance, even if it looks like ****

The design is okay, honestly I would be fine with the same exact design everytime, function over form. But I do appreciate the edges I suppose.

I'm asking what is industrial about the GTX 1080 Founder's Edition design. Not asking to be called out with whether or not I am familiar with the term.

If you are familiar with the term, you should understand that your question makes no sense.

GPUs really beg for watercooling. They are such loud components to air cool because of their physical characteristics with having to sit in a PCIE slot with limits on the size of heatsink that can be over them. You can air cool a CPU with pretty low noise using a big tower cooler, not a GPU. Even the custom AIB cards are noisy by my standards. But reference blower coolers are abysmal, they sound like hair driers every time you game and the fans start ramping up.

I agree that nvidia should do something like the Fury X cooler for a reference card. If you want something that really does evoke premium, it's a GPU under full load that is near silent due to watercooling.

As far as looks, nothing imo is as nice as custom water cooling if you take the time to make it look good, using compression fittings and a nice clean setup. Some of those AIB cards do look decent though, that new white shroud EVGA is using for one of their cards looks decent. I'm hoping they do a white block for their Classified 1080 with water block.
I agree.

OK, before I give you another infraction, its simple. He and I know the definition, but WHAT makes the product fit the definition ?

Still waiting for a card that can top this.

The hassle is that I already have a radiator for 9x120mm fans and it would be sad to see such a fine cooler go to waste just to install an another water-block. Maybe the block could be re-used? What's the threading? Of course, that would damage the whole AIO.

See that's why they need to just offer the board. Seriously, it makes me mad that the custom loop community can't just get the card without any cooler.

But if I was to ask for any Titan successor, I'd want a Titan successor that would make Fury X look bad. With no markup too (A dream I know but come on... just give something for once Nvidia). I don't know how the Fury X looks any better, but I trust Nvidia to top it if they tried with a WC design.

And a Titan Nano too I'd ask for, but they'd go off the same design they're going off now which I despise.
