My analogy is perfect. And I doubt the objectivity of this particular point.

But I think we've derailed this enough & I'm happy to leave it at "the world disagrees with [me]". gg
The reason your analogy does not work is that it adds length to the description, instead of shortening it.

I realize the "p" gives more meaning, and that is what you are trying to express, but it also has been marketed as a full resolution and it shortens the notation of that resolution. Something your analogy fails at.

It is more like a comparison of car vs automobile. Car is more descriptive, but it is shorter. Many people say car instead of automobile, even when they are including trucks into the conversation. This is more like a car vs automobile example.

And just to put it to rest, you are right, the rest of the world has decided 1080p is going to be used instead of 1920x1080 and your x1080 notation is incomplete and not specific enough. You will not change the world by yourself.

4k has been decided to be used instead of 3840x2160 or 2160p, even though 4k doesn't describe any dimension of the resolution, but that is what marketing has called it, and that is what we have all adopted, in part because it is easy to write.

I actually find that if the motion is TOO fluid, I'll get motion sickness in many 3D games. I'd rather have it the tiiiiiiniest bit choppy... I find 30FPS to be just fine. 60FPS is gorgeous, but runs a risk. 120FPS would be too much for me to handle.

Gimme' the 1440P!

That's fully understandable, some people can't handle fast movements, my oldest sister is like that.

NASCAR posted some videos that were of quality that you see normally on TV then some other "raw" videos that seems like they were filmed at a much higher framerate, the difference is night and day when you see their videos. I've looked around for them, seems NASCAR doesn't archive past videos for long, perhaps comes end of Feb or March they'll post some.

It's not about the resolution as much for me, its about TN vs IPS/PLS.

That is interesting, as I'm am the exact opposite. If there is too much latency or choppiness, I get sick. I actually need 80+ FPS to not experience this problem. It could also be possible that if you get to a point things are smooth enough, your problem would go away, if it is like me. As this problem for me, goes away if the game takes me out of 1st person view, and to a lesser extend, over the shoulder view.

For me, the reason I experience nausea is because the game puts me in a situation where the game immerses me enough where my mind almost thinks it is real. And when my actions are delayed, my mind thinks something is wrong. This is similar to motion sickness, where your body is moving differently than your mind expects and you experience nausea or headaches.

I think you are experiencing the same thing, only if you make the game choppy, you mind no longer feels immersed enough into the action to make it real. It may be possible that you would also be helped with ultra high FPS with no latency, so as that you are immersed enough to experience motion sickness, but it is smooth enough that your mind accepts what it sees.

Just a thought that you might try some day. A 120+hz, monitor without the use of v-sync (g-sync would likely be optimal) may be required to see if it would work or not.
