1080p 7870 vs 7850 oc

3570K @ 4.5Ghz
8gb G.skill 1866mhz
XFX 650w
Asrock extreme 4

I will be playing at 1080p. I play all types of games the most important for me right now it will be Skyrim ENB with other mods of course, also Borderlands 2, Xcom, Dark Soul, dishonored, bioshock 3 when it comes out, metro, etc.

I'm between the 7850 and the 7870, yes! i will OC... and maybe i could get a 7950 but it depends of the budget and i think the 7950 for 1080p is a little overkill.

get the HD 7950 if it can fit your budget and oc it to the HD 7970 performance

Every game out there battlefield, skyrim with mods, borderlands 2. I see if the 7950 can fit the budget but if it dosen't will the 7870 be enough?

yes the HD 7870 is still an amazing card

The 7950 OC'd is a beast and while overkill for 1080P today it should carry your rig into tommorow's games if you upgrade ~2years. New gaming bundle incoming as well for those cards. Check the thread here regarding the Cat 12.11 release.

Unless you want to buy a 7870 used for ~$200, I'd consider the 7850 OC'd or make the jump to the 7950. 7850 gets ya done under 200 and is great for 1080P, but if you want more i'd get a huge dose of more from the 7950.

If you are serious about maxing the games like BF3, Skyrim with mods at 1080p and playing at a smooth 60+ fps get the HD 7950. clock for clock HD 7950 is 3-5% slower than HD 7970. HD 7950 at 1.1 Ghz matches HD 7970 Ghz.

Since 7870s drop in price, and the delta with 7850 is so low now, just go for the 7870, they also OC great reaching 1.2 to 1.3ghz.

I will see how i can fit the 7950 in the budget if not i will get the 7870, i can get one for a good price.
