I'm working on a project where an A/V contractor is installing a video distribution system in someone's house. This A/V contractor decided that this should be done by some rackmount component video device that can run 1080P which is all well and good for their DVD players and satellite TV receivers, but they also decided they wanted a Media Center PC, which is where I came in. They requested a system that could output 1080P over component. I tracked down a few cards that came with component-out adapters, but was unable to find specs saying they could do full 1080P. I told them it seemed unlikely it would run higher than 1080i, but they said OH THATS GREAT LETS GO FOR IT, I'm sure it will be fine.
Today we install the PC and guess what, it only does 1080i over component, and that looks fuzzy and terrible. I warned them it wouldn't work well without a VGA>Component transcoder, or ideally a DVI/HDMI distributor rather than component, since that's just not what PCs are designed for.
My question is, is there a card for PCs that can do 1080P over component natively (without adapters) or am I missing something in the settings for the card? I've forced it to 1080i using PowerStrip and creating a custom driver for the TV, but it will not push past 30hz.
