when are plasmas comin in 1080p?
they are going to be EXPENNNNNNNSIVE
With the advancements in display technology I doubt it. Expensive at first and then after a few years it will drop.
Its a good time to be a videophile, yes, yes it is. Its simply mindblowing the advancements that come out each and every year.
the thing is that plasma's have that novelty wall-hanging thing going for them. LCDs are almsot at plasma quality so maybe you're right
The thing is that plasma's can offer the most stunning picture out there.

what makes it better then 1080i?
every frame is a full frame instead of a partial frame. basically, every frame is updated with an entirely new frame, instead of a partial change
and what does that mean to someone watching TV on it
fast motion looks SICK

well I have a question after reading some about 1080i vs. 1080p. It looke like 1080i is 1280 X 768 and 1080p is 1920 X 1080, am i right?
If so, why does this say it's 1080p compatible when it's only 1280 X 768? is it saying it 'down-converts' the signal but still shows it at 1080i?

It's an audiovox that downconverts everything to 720p

1080i: 1920 x 1080 interlaced
720p: 1280 x 720 progressive
In theory, 1080i is superior to 720p. Practically speaking though, it depends on many things (actual usable resolution of source, compression, quality of deinterlacer of your display, etc).

Practially speaking 720p can be better that 1080i. The key word being "can"

I like that 50" Samsung 1080i DLP. Price is around $2700 now at minimum. When it drops below $2K, I will consider.
