1080ti: what will be the gap between founder's edition and msrp pricing.

Seeing how Nvidia has successfully promoted their products at lower prices than they are actually available for even from themselves, I don't expect this to stop anytime soon.

In fact I predicted founders pricing and many others did as well.

So what do you think the gap will be?
It SHOULD be $650 msrp $1000 founder's edition.

My guess is $700 msrp $900 founder's.

Also, if you don't have your Nvidia stock or call options now.... Better get them in soon.

All pure custom AIB. NV branded one will be exclusive to NV, not labeled founder's edition, but still carry a $100 price premium.

Akin to what they essentially did with the GTX 970. But I get the feeling the "Founder's Edition" moniker will be used, even if Nvidia doesn't use it themselves.

I agree with OP, MSRP will be $700. What it actually sells for, probably closer to your guess for MSRP.

NV knew they could sell their cards for more, but they made everyone think they are cheaper with the placeholder MSRP. Regardless what the cards actually sell for, the MSRP will be a lot lower.

I think it will likely depend on the release date and pricing of Vega aswell. They can get away with false MSRPs and increasing prices in the high end at the moment as there's no competition there, if Vega is competing in the same space at a reasonable price then it'll be much more difficult for them.

True, which is why I think GP102 won't see 1080 Ti status. NV can sell it as a Titan Y (or whatever letter they choose) for 6-8 months if Vega is truly not intended to see light until 2017.

NV is in it for profits. They already got the crown, and there is no shortage of buyers. Throw a Titan L (or whatever letter they use) and it will sell. Would alleviate some of the buyers for GTX 1080 and that might return to a...nah it will still be gouged.

Basically, NV has tons of options without AMD to kick dirt in their face. Even if RX 490 is dual card, it's going to have to face stiff competition against AIB GTX 1070, which is already in the ~$420-450 ball park. So AMD can't price it too high thus not even touching GTX 1080.

Quite sure that's due to demand....remember Fiji release had mining hiking the price due to demand.

That was my reaction as well. I didn't think we were going to see a 1080 Ti until 2017, if at all. I'm not sure Nvidia is going to be so quick to obsolete the 1080 that quickly. Remember what happened to the 980 GTX?

I think the next Titan will be $1300 and you won't even even get a monster die. 16nm will probably be here for longer than 28nm, so the best way to do a double release on it is hold back on die size for Pascal GeForce cards.

1080ti probably 799 claimed MSRP, and $950-1000 for the fan edition.

Reasonable, but I think the FE will be $849 at the lowest.

1080: $100 premium
1070: $70 premium
1060: $50 premium
1080 Ti: $150 premium makes sense. Given the pattern, it probably has to be a higher premium than the 1080.

I can't stand the name "Founder." The name is a bit manipulative in nature. People who invent and create stuff are founders. People who buy reference design are consumers...

I wish they just go back to the name reference and I don't see any reason why they would charge more than $100 for the reference. Just probably superior cooling solution and quality board pieces. If the MSRP is close to a $1,000. I don't think there's anything wrong or outrageous about charging an early buyers fee. It only be like 10% roughly the same as sales tax in California.

Pretty low prices looking how high GTX1080 is priced. It all depends whether Vega will be here already. If Nv launches a good time earlier than expect:

Titan : 1299-1499$
1080TI Founders 999$
1080TI AIB theoretically 899$

First they take the profits of not having competition, later with amd launching they might get more aggressive with pricing.
