10GBASE-ZR question

this may be on the extreme end, but does anyone know of a NIC that supports...or at least is known to work with...a 10GBASE-ZR SFP+ module?

Or, is the intent of 10GBASE-ZR strictly for long distance fiber communication between switches?

I would just mention that they don't specifically list compatibility with ZR modules in their tech specs.

Of course, to follow that up, I would have to ask why you need 80 kilometer range for your NIC. Copper Twinax DAC cables are good up to 15 meters (49.2 feet). Are your NIC's really 49 miles away from your switches, that you need ZR modules?

10GBase-ZR is actually not an IEEE standard. Maybe you can choose other 10GBASE optics that works through single-mode fiber for significantly distance, like 10GBASE-LR.

If you did use this, you'd need a 15dBm attenuator as its TX power will come close to frying the other side if it's too close, if not certainly overload it.

totally agree, you need sure the received power is below the overload
