Another good way to jack an iPod into the car is with an FM modulator that jacks directly into the stereo's antenna jack.

You cannot tell difference between Apple refurb or new. Everything including packaging is new. I ordered 5 gig for $150 month or two back and it's awesome. My cousin bought 15 gig new from Bestbuy after seeing mine. No difference in packaging or looks other than his is 3rd gen and mine is 2nd gen.

I liked mine so much that I ordered 10 gig Mac refurb for $169 today to give as a gift.

I carry my 5 gig everywhere I go. It's great for long drives.

1) Placed order on apple's site at 7:27am
2) Got an email w/ the details immediately
3) A different order ack at 9:05am
4) Shipment notification w/ tracking number at 6:04pm
5) Final invoice at 10:42pm

i bought mine on the 10th morning but it hasn't been shipped yet. it says ship on or before 12th, so i will give them a call if it doesn't get shipped by later today.

Order place 9/10 5:00pm, still no delivery status email. Checked status, and it says shipping on or before 9/12. I upgraded the shipping to 2nd day -- if these ship from CA, I didn't want it to take 7-10 days (my estimate - ups ground) to NY.

I was initially trying for a $169 old version, but when that was sold out, I decided that since I already have a 3g 15gb, and this one is for my wife, it was worth it to get the new version so we can share accesories. And then I figured it was worth it to spend even more on the 15gb version (versus the 10gb) because getting a case alone would likely set me back $30. And the remote control is nice to have.

It appears that Apple oversold the $169 ipods. I talked to customer service and they weren't much help other than saying that the warehouse is currently out and that the warehouse will fill the orders when more refurbs are available. Contemplating changing my order to the 15GB 3rd generation for $279.
