Just the bare facts:

1. Start: December 1, 2015, 19:00 UTC
2. End: January 1, 2016, 12:00 UTC
3. Short intermission for the The Winter Solarstice PrimeGrid Challenge December 19 - December 22.

Here are the rules:

1: Have fun.
2: Let others have fun.
3: Crunch as much as you can, as often as you can and as efficiently as you can.
4: Assimilating computers, adding members to the teams, switching teams and borghing is allowed.
5: (Sid's rule) Whistle while you work; DON'T whistle while you sip.
6: (Sid's rule) No pouting.

Please post here if you intend to take part. Our Folding@Home tream number is 198.

I'll put the teams together one day before the race but the discussion about who will race against whom is open.
Please remember: joining and recruiting is allowed. Once the race is started, I decide into which team the new members go.

The primary goal: TeAm AnandTech should climb in the ranks!
The secondary goal: The TeAm shall have a lot of fun!

Those who want to participate, please post your names (the AnandTech name as well as the Folding@Home name) in this thread. I'll add those names to this post.

The day before the race (November 30, sometime in the evening UTC) I will compose the two teams as well as I can. The deciding factor is - mostly - past ppd, past history in Folding@Home and my feeling on how things may develop ...

December 1st, part One of the race starts - and please remember, in this first part it is the time to assimilate, recruit, borgh ...
Until the Prime Grid race I will see how every one is doing.
During the Prime Grid race I'll even out the teams one last time.
After the Prime Grid race, part two of the F@H race starts and the members of each team will stay in their team.
However, borghing and assimilating and recruiting is allowed during the whole race.
Usually the race is quite even ...

Now the final question arises: What should the names of the teams be? Please propose names and after a few days I'll post a poll.

OK: lets get this ball rolling!

Participants as of November 29, 2015, 18:00 UTC:

Those teams are - as I guess - approximately equally strong. The guess is based on past performance and my knowledge of the team members.
Still, I may be way off and will therefore take the liberty, in the forst part of the race, to juggle the teams around.
Please remember: recruiting, assimilating, borghing is allowed and encouraged!

If we're done with the other race I have two or three little boxes I can throw at it before going back to Seti

I'm in with CPU at least. Pokey of course will be in. We're nearly neighbors, only one state away. And we're both going to be on different teams. So....

Assuming he's into American football, his side could be the ([North] Carolina) Panthers and those stuck with me could be the (Tennessee) Titans.

Sorry, I can't add a bunch of boxes this year, as I am retiring, but count me in for my current numbers.

Count me in of course. Folding as Pokey_TA

Tony, I thought of a bunch of one liners for you but I will refrain for now.... :sneaky:

I like Panthers and Titans especially since the Panthers are unbeaten, but there may be some sentiment out there for something a little more universal............. I'm not very creative but I'll see if I can come up with a counter proposal.

Don't worry about it, Mark, you're done some amazing F@H work.

Count me in too, planning on using my Thuban 1045T and a pair of R7 260X cards.

After going 100 mph with my hair on fire for 40 years, I am enjoying retirement. (10 years now and counting)

Hope you do too Mark. Have a beer on me.

What should the names of the teams be?

I found some folding words that could be made into team names. My official suggestion is:

The computational predictors
vs
The molecular mechanics

not exactly Panthers vs Titans but there it is.

How about the decade folders vs the 10 year crunchers in honor of 10 years of folding games. ?

I'm in , will be interesting to see how my new rig compares to my old (I may briefly run both ).

F@H name (IIRC) is [TA]Assimilator1.

No ideas for team names atm.....

I voted for the decade option, so I'm afraid I haven't helped to break the deadlock .

OK, I voted to break the tie. I almost voted for "Decade folders vs 10-year-crunchers", but that would only have made a 3-way tie!
