Thanks for the stats petrusbroder! (Is there someway to determine the points of individual WU's?)

Now a message for Mr. Brazier: Sometime during this upcoming night I suspect I will be passing through your 'neighborhood'. Sadly, I won't be able to stop by for a visit, as it will not only be after hours, but I'm in a bit of a hurry also, or so it seems.

So, allow me to simply say:

I'll be sure to wave.

I was big into United Devices/Grid.org for years, built and sold PC's at cost for fun and with the client's understanding that UD.exe was running in the background. Dabbled in SETI for the screensaver only, lol.

I sent my PS3 to an early grave folding@home anonymously.

After that I primarily crunched for short periods of time as a stress test/performance test for new builds. Those builds became further and further apart, and nearly stopped once my beloved (now retired) 1st Gen Core i7 came into being. She served me very well for 7 years, with only minor upgrades.

One day I stumbled across Milkyway (and was quite surprised to find I'd joined the project many years prior), and Milkyway was able to use my now ancient 7 year old Radeon HD 4850.... And dear gawd it could crunch a WU in 2 minutes vs hours for my CPU!!!

Last year in the Fall I finally bought a game my 4850 couldn't run smoothly, and got a used 280X. Now MW ran in 24 seconds instead of 120, and I was truly hooked, with how ludicrously easy it was to get 350,000 per DAY, more than I had total at the time I believe in all of BOINC.

Then the heat pump died, so, well, another 280X would help keep me warm right? Then another, then another, then...I sorta lost control.

So it was about 14 months ago I actually started using the forum, due to GLeeM sending a private message via Milkyway I believe, and inviting me to be more active. And now I am up from 3 posts to a whopping 665.

I try really hard, I do, to be....restrained..., in the forums. Thus the low post count. I'm afraid I might be a nuisance, as I don't know how to act my age sometimes. But to be fair, I've never been this old before!

The only way I know of is to dig into the log file (third tab in the client app is labeled "log").

Here's the line you are looking for:

09:06:26:WU00:FS01:Final credit estimate, 74066.00 points

I was looking back at previous folding races, it's amazing how things have changed. My dual CPU SR-2 rig was getting about 1/4 of the ppd I'm currently doing with only 2 GPU. If I spent the same amount of money upgrading as I did on that system, I would be over 2 million ppd.

I've added the links to all the previous races to the OP in this thread.

Thanks for all the work petrusroder?

I'm currently folding on OCed i7-860 and 6950. Should I have any flags defined for either to maximize my PPD? Thanks!

Caveat: this is just me.

I don't set them any more. The new v7 software looks at your hardware and sends appropriate cores and work units. There is little or no advantage according to the posts I have seen on their web site for us with normal rigs.

I will occasionally adjust the cpu slot to fewer cores than the default setting. I worry that the gpu(s) might be deprived if cpu is running at 100%. In Folding GPUs are more productive than cpu.

Again, that's just me.

Thanks biodoc. Sadly my log has already rolled over beyond the WU in question by a few hours. Also, my client (Windows) version doesn't seem to have Final Credit Estimates in the log. Interesting stuff to take a look at though!

EDIT: Well, I take that back, I found a Final Credit Estimate on a different system. Weird. The one in question I saved as a text file and searched for the term and the computer didn't find it, nor did my eyes.

The stats are as of Dcember 5, 2015, 200:00 UTC:

The individual stats:

The day-by-day production:

The TeAm's production graph:

Some errors in the stats of the previous days have been corrected. You'll see them if you look hard enough ...

That was some good reading, I tried to read the first pages of several of them. And I realize that just because we have some users popping in 'suddenly' that I haven't seen in my 14 months here certainly doesn't mean we have 'new' people.

And having found this pic/post, I guess I am not alone in having gone wild on my 'heating system':

Yes, but now down to one system, since I am retiring at the end of the year. I had 18 at one time, ! And last year I had 1.5 million ppd! but now that bigadv is dead, all my 24 core boxes are sitting.

THis was snapshotted on 12/21/2014

BUT, I may add just one.

And the other reason I turned most of them off, was that the month of Dec last year, the furnace never came on (gas) but my electric bill was $430 ! When I am retired, I can't afford that.

Well it IS getting colder, yeah? Only makes sense to turn on some heat when the temps drop outside.

EDIT: Unless you have a wood burner or some other 'nearly free' source of heat.

Mark, you answered a question I hadn't yet asked, regarding if there was a replacement for FahMon.

So far I've installed and gotten my main computer to show up. How do I get the remote computers to show up? All the addresses and ports are the same (Local).

So, have you switched to HFM.net ? If so, your other computers still have their own IP address. I forget if you have to enable sharing, but I think so. If I get my new box up soon, I will tell you. It will be win 7. All of mine now are XP, XP64, and win 10. I fotget what it took on the win 10 box.

BTW, one of the CPU fans on my SR-2 went out, and I lost a day of folding, as ubuntu locked up, so 200k or so lost. But its back up now.

Here is a pic of my only one box:

Ah, so I use my remoter computer's IP address, not one specific to the client running on it? To have so many computers, I am illiterate when it comes to networking. :\

So....I find that info in my....router. Possibly. lol

EDIT: I didn't get FahMon to work, I believe it was designed for v6 clients, not v7. Here's what I have so far, only the machine HFM is installed on is showing anything. The IP's from the DCHP don't seem to work for me.

EDIT: Do I install HFM on the other machines too?

On each computer, do "start/run/cmd" Then in the black box type "ipconfig/all" Then somewhere in the list it will have the IP address of your computer, like 192.168.1.2 or 3 or 4 or...(never the 192.168.1.1, thats the router itself)

Unless your router uses a setup like 192.168.0.1 for the router, and 192.168.0.2 for the first computer, etc...

In my case, I still have 5 computers and a printer on my network. 192.168.1.2 is the computer that I am typing on that is running HFM.net. 192.168.1.7 is the SR-2 with dual 5639's@2.8 ghz and a GTX 980 that is folding using ubuntu that is doing 400k ppd for the box

The client saves the log file and also saves old log files.

Look in "Users" folder ... here is the path on my computer to the file "log.txt" -
C:\Users\Gary\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient
that is where you will find the Logs folder also.

I think your problem is sharing. On your remote clients. The below link to a youtube video is not good, but maybe your google skills are better than mine.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Syou9u9B_aY

But the key is configuring the shareable access.

Tony,
I think everyone is assuming you have remote access enabled on all your folding computers. If not then open:
Advanced Control > Config > Remote access tab
Then insert allowed IP address range per instructions.
Stop Folding and restart each computer. (this is important)
HFM should work just fine when you insert Name and IP address in HFM dialog box after that.

Well, one step closer. At least now the local "advanced control client" connects to itself.

I'm using wi-fi to connect one of the workstations to the Airport/router, then using that workstation to share it's internet connection with the others via ethernet. Double DHCP as it were? Possible culprit right there?

Ah well, there's always tomorrow. And congrats Pokey, you managed to at least momentarily 'unplug' something of mine.

CupCak3, hope you don't mind me slipping by tonight. Seems a bit shady to me to sneak past someone in the early morning hours.

G'nite.
