We just overtook OCUK for #26 spot worldwide. With a good push we can get #21 or #22 by the end of the month.
I'm deciding which out of the rest of my cards what I should put on (there's no point spinning up some of my old mining cards)

Oh I will be throwing an old radeon 280x I've had laying around into my homeserver as soon as i get home as well.

Yeah BrainEater, I'm feeling a bit sorry for you guys, never could we have predicted the owner pitting us against Tom's and making a front page story out of it, drawing in over 100 new recruits and counting. All for the greater good though, would have been a closer race otherwise.

But who knows, maybe many of those recruits are only racing the first week, your team may well prove more difficult than anticipated!

Reminder and tip for maximum PPD: Make sure your time and date are set correctly.

My Xeon E3-1230 machine is running F@H inside of a Win 10 VM but somehow had the wrong time and date for the last day or so. PPD was at about 28k but for the last couple of days it dropped down to 8k. Thought something was screwy due to running VM on ESXi. Then I noticed my time and date was off by one day even though it was supposed to all be automatic. Got it fixed and PPD popped right back up to 28k.

So back to about 100k PPD for me. Not too bad for 4 CPU's. Every little bit helps. Heck the stats show a crazy increase in PPD for Team AnandTech. In 2 weeks it has gone from 10.9M PPD to 32.8M PPD.

I have a stop gap measure to get at least one GPU into the race. I have purchased a lga775 mobo with a e6400 cpu + 500w PSU for $45 so I can get one GPU in to the race

I think the following racers should prepare and start up their folding:

It takes a few days to get up and running, especially if you don't have a passkey. You have to fold 10 WUs to get a passkey. If you have folded 10 WUs you can retrieve the passkey here (@folding@home) and paste in the web-control (in change identity) or the Folding@home advanced control (configure --> identity). The passkey gives access to the bonus points.

Thanks for getting me added. Had to upgrade a PS to feel confortable with that 280x in my homeserver but its up and folding now. So I'm running 2 i7 3770ks with a Fury X in one and a 280X in the other and an i5-4670 with a r9 270 in it. I even tried it out on my htpc thats running a Kabini Athlon 5330 apu. Not sure about the Kabini system it locked on me overnight so I don't know if it is a good idea to run it on that box. Anyone got any experience folding on this type of system?

hello guys, sorry for disappearing but i had a bit of crunching to do at work and did not have the time to properly setup my rig. i'm about to install the right drivers and test the setup tonight. if everything goes well, i'll be able to fold at full power almost 24/7, given the preliminary ppds i saw during my first run it should be easy to hit 10 WU before the start of the race. i'll keep you posted.

YES! driver 373.06 apparently did the trick. i had to disable SLI and do some trickery to force both GPUs to run at full 3D frequencies but it seems to work smoothly. had to slightly reduce the overclock on the second 970 because the client was complaining and dumped some WUs in protest, but it's been 30 minutes of smooth operations right now and everything seems fine. with the newer drivers i had a bad work unit every 10 minutes or so. it's probably early to greenlight the rig for 24/7 operations but by tomorrow morning we shall see. after the gpu1 completes her WU i'll put her in pause mode to use it for other stuff and see if the FaH client has issues with it, and i'll let both run for the entire night to see if something goes wrong. unforeseen problems nothwitstanding, i am looking at around 700,000 PPD at full power and around half that when i'm using the main gpu for myself. as a welcome bonus, this will nicely heat my room at night for maximum winter comfort

I've just upgraded the cooling on my i5-6400 with BCLK OC, and am re-qualifying the OC. So far, it looks like it will do 4.45Ghz @ 1.400V, 85C.

FYI...I'm having a minor stability issue with my in-house electrical circuit.

(The two folders plus the two servers all running of the same outlet and circuit as the back half of the house - circuit breaker will trip when wife plugs in/runs the vacuum cleaner. Currently pulling close to 1300 W/10.6A on the line with a 15A breaker, so yeah.)

I mention it because my stats are going to be a little bit erratic but I am hoping that I have found a semi-permanent fix for it by plugging the folders onto a different part of the electrical circuit entirely, so we'll see what happens.
