For now I am trying to ignore it. The worst that can happen, is that I owe $1800 for 2 1080's and a 1070.

That could be a problem, but......

hey, this is a friendly contest - win or lose there's no need to lose out on $1800 just to win. remember: the sponsor gives the donation whomever wins (be that us or Tom's)

I have a couple of G3258 w/GTX950 rigs sitting idle, in their boxes, ready to sell. If I only had a space in my small apt to hook them up with monitors, they would be crunching right now.

I've got a friend, that I'm supposed to see tomorrow maybe, and give him a monitor. I might be able to talk him into crunching on his backup PC, with a GT740.

And the 10 pm PST update... 6m for us, and 4.2m for Toms.... So doing OK.

And the last 24 hr, 42 mil for us, and 32 mil for Toms. Still 10 mill ahead

I have just added 6x970s and 2x5960X along with my current 6700K and R9 290x. The 970s and 5960x will only be running over the weekend though. I am folding as markymark.

edit: Also added i5-4460, 2xGTX650 and a Quadro K2000

R9 Fury came in the mail today. I bought it off Amazon for $260, which is quite a steal. Gonna fire it up and see what this baby can do ^^

Edit: Now pushing out 500k PPD at full tilt

I have a Fury sitting idle and that's a pretty decent PPD. Good to know what it can achieve. On top of the R7 370, I since then added a 7950 into the race. I still have a GTX 1060 that's also idling, and another 7950 and 7970XT that are currently sitting in boxes. I've been meaning to move those cards into my DC rigs but with two young kids, I don't have much time these days!

Here's the complete list of GPUs that I could enter into the race (pending on whether I want to pay the electricity to run those cards and whether the card is even supported):

The relevant and modern-ish GPUs:

R9 Fury
GTX 1060
2 x 7950
7870 XT
R7 370

The old timers:

GTX 580
GTX 480
3 x GTX 460
GTX 550 Ti
GT 240
5870
2 x 5850

Is the GTX 580 any good with the current WUs? The GTX 1060 is a no-brainer. That card would produce the best PPD/watt. I'll probably enter that into the race this weekend. I'll have to think about the Fury as that card is power hungry.

Hello everyone. I have been lurking these forums since the great fanboy wars, and I took this competition as an excuse to register. I will be joining Team AnandTech with two builds. I have an Intel 5820K @4.4 and 2 Nvidia 980s on the first and an Intel 6100T with an Nvidia 950 on the second. I do not even math, but my computers are very loud and very hot. I am folding as wonderboyP8NT.

Easy way to heat the house this winter guys. Crank the computers up, back the tstat on the heater down to 65F. When I get home I turn the blower fan on for a few hours to let all the heat circulate into the rest of the rooms. The fan will only pull about 4amps.

@ZipSpeed: if you're concerned about power draw, lose the CPU folding, and just run the GPU's - most definitely the best PPD per watt! (CPU's burn up to double the power (more so while overclocked of course) while only crunching 1/5-1/10)

Yup, already folding with GPUs only. It's not just the power draw either, but the amount of heat being dumped into the room. My DC rigs are in one room with one vent so things can get really toasty if I go full throttle on all my rigs.

FYI: There is no longer any work for pre-Fermi and/or Tesla architecture GPUs according to one thread I read lately. The others should be OK depending on your threshold for heat.

Damn, my HD 7870 died on the 30th. It is crashing under any continuous load. I tried underclocking it, to no avail. My PPD is going to start freefalling until I can get a replacement in.

@ZipSpeed , the 1060 is the card out of your list that will make the most ppd/watt. The Fury might be the highest producer of the two, though if the 1060 is a 6GB they will be close. Those would be the two out of your list that I would put in first. Here's a link to relative outputs of various GPUs:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vcVoSVtamcoGj5sFfvKF_XlvuviWWveJIg_iZ8U2bf0/pub?output=html

Take the numbers with a grain of salt, but it's an idea of where they stand relative to one another.

Ok, folks here are the numbers for the first day (24 hours) of the race.

The stats are from http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=, updated at 18:00 UTC (=12pm CST). Only the points count. The ppd is there for information only.

The Teams' race stats

Some overtake stats

The Yetis vs. The Snowmen

In the first 24 hours The Yetis produced 1 079 055 more points than The Snowmen.
The Snowmen have managed to increase their production more than The Yetis.

Daily production stats

This table will fill up in due time ...
Well done, all racers!
