I've got a couple of older video card machines. Can an nvidia 9800x2 and/or GTX 285 still fold? If so, which drivers work? Ive been unsuccessful so far, but wouldn't mind heating a couple of rooms for the cause.

I hate to say it, but... probably not. Pretty sure that they phased out G80/G92 GPU support a while back, along with X1900/X1950 support on the ATI side.

Pretty sure that you need Fermi or Kepler or newer cards, for NVidia, to fold with.

I was getting like 14-16K PPD with a (passively-cooled) GT630/730 384SP DDR3 card.

Unfortunately cards older than Fermi aka <400 series have been phased out, however those cards still work for BOINC projects such as SETI@Home

I got squeezed out of the top 20 in the team PPD early on, but a recent highly adventurous (and so far stable) overclock on my two 970s has upped my PPD from 650k to 750k, so hopefully get back in the rankings

I have two Asus Strix 970s at 1505 MHz, has anyone got more than this out of these cards (or similar)? The stock clock is 1266MHz so this is a decent boost of 19%. Had one issue of one card dropping to 450MHz but a reboot fixed that. Currently got the power limit maxed out for both cards. Getting around 375k PPD out of each card.

I also have a quad core i5 4690k at 4GHz which is running two cores on WCG and the other two for the GPUs. PCIe bus usage seems around 30-40% for each card implying back and forth of around 3GB/s, seems high. Pausing the WCG jobs doesn't seem to affect GPU or BUS usage, or PPD. Not really a problem but an interesting observation I guess.

My PPD on the other hand are about to drop like a stone. Almost all of them come from large CPU slots, but today the F@H servers stopped to submit lucrative 0xa7 Work Units, and even large 0xa4 WUs are becoming rare now. The same happened already in November when I prepared for the December race... I hope the more lucrative large WUs, especially 0xa7 WUs, will become available again sometime soon.

I suppose it's possible to suspend F@H in the morning and resume it in the evening fully automatically. I.e. run "FAHClient --send-pause" and "FAHClient --send-unpause" from task scheduler, or something like that. (Haven't tried it myself yet.)

I for one have just one of my F@H slots running within ear range: A 150 W rated graphics card, which is realistically pulling only 120 W or so, fitted with a 250 W rated aftermarket cooler. It's inaudible under full load, but on the other hand produces mere 80 000 PPD.

Here at work, it was really more than just the noise, etc. I have to connect through a hot spot for F@H because of some of the firewall/filtering rules in place. (I work for a school system. Don't worry though, I have permission from the CIO to run this stuff. He's a really nice guy.) I'm going to try to get more machines running at home that I can leave on at least through the winter. The extra heat in the basement would be great.

Here are the stats for December 15, 2016., and the 14th day of the 11th Annual Folding@Home Holiday Season Race.
The stats are from http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=, updated at 21:00 UTC (=3pm CST).
Only the points count. The ppd is there for information only.

The team's stats

The Yetis vs. The Snowmen

The sub-teams' daily production

The racers' daily production

That is all for today. The number are dropping, but that was expected.
We are still ahead of the Hardware Canucks Forum, which in turn is increasing their production step by step.
Please continue folding!

I shall restructure the sub-teams one more time, as more folders quit in The Snowmen's team than in The Yetis' team.
Also the number of active folders has dropped a lot ...

So from tomorrow, the teams will look a wee bit different!

I think this is the thread where folks were having issues with windows update rebooting their PC and it would stop folding?

a fix I use is to add the shortcut for F@H to a folder in the start menu called "startup" - not sure if win10 still has that feature, but it is still on win7 of course the other way is to make F@H run through the services (no interface), but if you like monitoring and tweaking that last one is not really a viable option. the first option runs the program normally though, and will always run the program after a reboot. <my 2cents>

It's almost time for me to take the "warp engines" (GPUs) offline to replicate a bunch of prime factors for the PrimeGrid race. Technically that race starts early tomorrow morning, but I don't want to be stuck running a F@H WU when it starts. The PrimeGrid client doesn't take a CPU core for Nvidia, so I plan to continue F@H on "impulse" (CPUs.) I might be able to make up to 1/10th my GPU speed if I'm lucky.

well, my electric bill came. Almost $500, so I have to turn some boxes off. Probably loose one million ppd or so.

Ah, the electric bill. Such bitter sweet memories of last year...I'd managed to out-produce a certain somebody (points per day), FINALLY, after adding much old hardware into the fight, plus buying 3 980's and a 980Ti or two. Then January's electric bill showed up, and took away all my fun.

Ken, less than 24 hours notice/reminder for the PG race? 40 lashes with a wet noodle for you!

Oh, wait, you reminded us all on Tuesday....seems so long ago...

Ah sweet , yea time to take a rest guys !!
I wouldn't want you to beat us by a billion points !!
haha

-------
I'm still getting stuff online.
Finally got that one rig stable , went in today to put in the TITAN ..: CorsairAX750 psu , proprietary cables that I don't have.
*grumble,grumble*...I'm reverse engineering their damn cables now.
.
My goal is to have all 4 million ppd online by the end of our race.(just in time lol) , because January 1 I'm in the mountains for a week or two .

Cheers ! and happy holidays.

The Teams' stats

Sorry folks, no sub-team's stats today as I am restructuring the sub-teams and that takes a lot of work.
Thanks for being patient!

Whoohoo, reached 35th place overall for the TeAm in F@H. That's likely as high as I'm going to get, more or less, because some folders are going to overtake my spot soon.
