I'm back from PrimeGridding, and a power flicker while I was at work shut down my cable modem. Yeah. Everything else restarted, but I have no idea how long my little farm animals went without internet. Long enough for everybody to be out of work. Yeah.
Anywho, should be back up to 4.3M ppd soon-ish.

Welcome back!

Peter, my farm is stable at about 5.5 million ppd, In case you need that for the restructuring. Had to turn some off after the power bill, but got a little back with 2 new 1070's. Only 5 of 9 crunchers are now on.

All the time since last Thursday, not a single A7 work unit has been issued which scaled so well on my two dual-socket Xeons. So these two boxes are now wasting electricity on A4 units for meager 2x 285 k PPD.

But my two new GTXs bring my total PPD up to 1.9 M at least now, and on nice days a trusty little W7000 might push it even just so towards 2.0 M.

Man , you guys were not producing 36 Mppd , when I came here and challenged you , really good work team AnandTech !
You guys were just barely outproducing us.
I'm going to say cheers now , on beating us , ( between Christmas , and ski week , I might not be around at the end ..)
-----
Cheers ! , and great work...Ya thrashed us.
Enjoy your #21 spot . Hardware Canucks owned that spot for a couple years , and we miss it already.
It is my sincere hope we can challenge again for that .
Science wins either way.
I hope you guys maintain your output on a permanent basis , I know I'm doing 4 Mppd till summer....I need the heat.

Have a great holidays , try to enjoy the snow !!

edit :

Petrusbroder , MarkFW, TenneseeTony , thanks for your efforts , and for humoring me.

Thanks for challenging us; we really needed it. For the past years, the number of folders has dropped almost every year; your challenge, and the short race against Tom's Hardware has mobilised many folders and has stimulated us to increase production.
You are always welcome for a friendly race. You have also increased production a lot. And that is really good for science!
Thanks BrainEater!

Here are the stats for December 22, 2016., and the 21th day of the 11th Annual Folding@Home Holiday Season Race.
The winter solstice has passed, and the days (at least for us in the northern hemisphere, the days will get a little longer ... and winter is coming.
The stats are from http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=, updated at 21:00 UTC (=3pm CST).
Only the points count. The ppd is there for information only.

The Teams' stats

The Yetis vs. The Snowmen

I have restructured the sub-teams after the PrimeGrid challenge for two reasons:
1. The teams were unbalanced due to many more folders leaving The Snowmen
2. We usually restructure the teams after the PrimeGrid race.
I think that the race will be more even now, and more of a race.

The Sub-team's daily production

If I guessed correctly, the difference between the teams may even negligable, but only the continued race will tell.

The racers' daily production

Here is the compilation of the production of all racers in an other way

Well folded, TeAm Anandtech!

I'm back in the running with my latest overclock, back in the top 20 24hr average that is

Agree with above points that a bit of friendly competition has mobilised a lot of participation, we can make The teAm a top 10 in no time

Quick hardware Q, my 970s occasionally randomly downclock to 450MHz, and stay there until I do a hard power off reboot. Anyone know why this is? I would have thought an overly aggressive overclock would result in it just defaulting to stock clocks?

And thanks Petrusbroder for the comprehensive stats

Cheers!

Try to not close your browser. That is what seems to trigger the downclock on my machines. GPUShark reports my browser as one of the 3D processes using the GPU, so I assume any 3D process, such as a browser, interferes with folding when it gets cycled on/off.

Thanks for the reply Tony

That is a very strange quirk! And I have to admit I do not have the browser open when folding, the process starts on boot and the browser never opens. But it is interesting you also get the downclocking issue...

that's strange - I use my PC for gaming (nothing too terribly strenuous, but gaming nonetheless) while folding, and (to my knowledge) have never downclocked. I also use my browser (IE) occasionally - but I do turn it off while gaming unless I need to look up information on the game, and run media player in the background. at any given time I have F@H, IE (when looking up something or prior to gaming), and WMP running simultaneously (all active) while gaming (while i'm gaming anyway) and I get 250-300k ppd. when not gaming that number does tend more towards 300 of course, but I still get 225-250k ppd even while gaming, and with everything else open. oh, for posterity, I'm running a GTX970 my gpu is not OCed, and the fan barely speeds up while gaming.

there are only two reasons (that I know of) that a gpu downclocks (based on pro reviews, and my own experience): over TDP, and over temp (both of which are effected by overclocking the gpu and/or the vRAM. I've never heard of a program causing the gpu to downclock. that's not to say it can't happen of course, I've just never heard of it

It sounds like this is most likely due to a crash recovery by the driver which means you should drop your OC by a notch and see how that goes.

Yes, there is a stats issue, the appropriate people have been notified but when it will be fixed is unknown due to it being the holiday season. Points will still be collected during this time.

Thanks bds71, I had suspected the OC might be causing the issue. Afterburner is reporting a temp of only 70C max for the two cards, and the power limit is set to max for the two cards but never seems to get above 105%. I guess the driver crashing following a clock lockout might cause the card to reset into a kind of safe mode.

Just odd how it goes all the way down to 450, massacring my PPD

Cheers!

On a positive note, if the stats are down more than 24 hours, when the stats come back online, I think everyone will want to do a screenshot of their personal "Points Produced Today" as it will be rather inflated. Especially if it is down for a couple of days.

I can imagine a conversation along these lines: "Oh, you fold? What is your ppd?" "Hmm, I don't really remember...oh, I have a screenshot, let's take a look at that..."

Somebody from Stanford IT took a break from the holidays. Stats are back. Hopefully, some appreciation is going to be channeled to the appropriate people.

At EOC, the gap spans exactly 24 hours.

Dear Santa, can TeAm Anandtech have one billion points this month for Christmas?

Sincerely, the TeAm.
