Hello everyone. I have been lurking these forums since the great fanboy wars, and I took this competition as an excuse to register. I will be joining Team AnandTech with two builds. I have an Intel 5820K @4.4 and 2 Nvidia 980s on the first and an Intel 6100T with an Nvidia 950 on the second. I do not even math, but my computers are very loud and very hot. I am folding as wonderboyP8NT.
Hi and welcome!
Would you take part in the race against Tom's Hardware (one week race) or in the whole month-race against Hardware Canucks Forum, and thus in the sub-teams race?
Please let me know, and then i will add you to one of the teams!

@ZipSpeed , the 1060 is the card out of your list that will make the most ppd/watt. The Fury might be the highest producer of the two, though if the 1060 is a 6GB they will be close. Those would be the two out of your list that I would put in first. Here's a link to relative outputs of various GPUs:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vcVoSVtamcoGj5sFfvKF_XlvuviWWveJIg_iZ8U2bf0/pub?output=html

Take the numbers with a grain of salt, but it's an idea of where they stand relative to one another.

Yeah, the 1060 is definitely going to go into the race though I'll have to revert the drivers to the older 373 or whatever it was that I reading. And thanks for the list. Very helpful.

I will commit the 6100T build for the entire month and the 5820K rig occasionally.

Was reminded yesterday and finally started crunching this morning under the name Polaris. I just have a 2500K + GTX670. I will have to see when I get home how it's doing, but I have no idea what kind of numbers I should expect or if I even yet show up in the teams/standings.

Maybe we should ask the Hardware Canucks Forum to join Tom's. We'd still have outproduced the pair of them, by 231k or so.

LOL, careful what you wish for..................... No team's production has leveled off yet. TA & TH still look like rocket-ships.

Our 24 hour average is now over 47M which puts us at 6th best team ppd overall! If we could somehow come up with another 12M that would put us at 4th highest ppd.

I have gone from 25 to 32 work units completed. I watched one GPU finish a workload that took about 6 hours worth 170k points and my total didn't go up at all. Is there something that verifies the work was done? I feel like im taking crazy pills.

Yeah, they can take awhile to get results in the stats. If you click the "log" tab in the advanced control client, you should see something like:
21:59:52:WU01:FS00:Server responded WORK_ACK (400)
21:59:52:WU01:FS00:Final credit estimate, 32228.00 points

And mine will go DOWN by 2 million soon....

It can take 10 minutes to 6 hours for work units to get credit. Because each WU result is most likely verified to another identical WU, so people can't just return rubbish (or fake a result) immediately and get credit.

if corsair manages to return my AX in time i can add the second 970 for more time, 10-12 hours per day which would amount to 200k ppd more or less... other than that i could fire up my old laptop but i doubt a dual core broadwell with no hyper threading would be able to pump out more than 10k ppd, it's practically nothing.

60k ppd with 12 cpu cores, well that will be something I guess. Until I get one GPU in, I have finally received a tracking number for the mobo, but no word on the CPU yet, I have opened a dispute.
It looks like CPUs hate P9040 and P9031 since they give 1.4k points for 3hrs of work, whereas P11920 gives 2.68k points for 2.5hrs of work, this is all on a Dual Xeon L5420, using 6 threads/cores

Since turning it on for the first time this morning I have since made 410,013 Units total (21,779 go to AT's team 198) and 5434 Points Per Day. Do these number sound about right?
2500K + GTX 670 at Medium setting.

No. That sounds like only the 2500K is in use. Using the notification icon near the (Windows) clock, go to advanced view, configuration, slots, and see if the GPU is being used or not. If not, 'Add' the GPU.

How much wattage, is:
2x 7950 3GB (800/1250 - stock, 2x PCI-E 6-pin)
1x RX 460 4GB Sapphire Nitro (factory OC, 1x PCI-E 6-pin)
2x XFX R9 270X 2GB dual-fan (1050 core, 2x PCI-E 6-pin)
3x MSI GTX950 2GB OC (1x PCI-E 6-pin)

2x Thuban 1045T (95W TDP each)
2x G4400 (OC)
1x i5-6400 (OC to 4.455Ghz, 1.410V)

Hope I don't blow a breaker. Thankfully, this apt is wired with a 20A circuit, and maybe one circuit for each room, I don't know.

Heats good in the Winter, let me tell you that!

1940watts @ 85% efficiency = 2282watts at the wall.
20A x 120V = 2400watts so you're good.......best not turn on any monitors, lights, fans, alarm clocks, night lights though.

So, Ken, your response to this outrageous attempt to hold you off is...?

(just a total guess on the 1940watts. probably a bit on the high side)

Taking this DC thing a bit seriously....I am currently remodeling an old block house, which I intend to move into when finished.

And in every room, if I think there may someday be a computer/cluster here/there, well I'm running a 20A 240V outlet to here/there. (and cat 5e)

And if I miss a spot, well that 240V outlet splits off into two 20A 120V circuits: Two walls fed by one circuit leg, other two walls on the other leg. 4800watts per room should cover any future needs.

Well, I'm just praying that each of my two rooms is on a separate circuit. That would put my mind at ease. I think that your estimation is a little on the high side, but not by much.

Edit: Taking stock of my "available" video cards, besides my ancient ones (9600GSO 96SP, HD4850, GT630 passive), I've got a couple of 750ti cards, and maybe one or two R7 250X DDR3 cards. Are those worth throwing into the ring? Still, a bit concerned about my power usage, and I think that those cards would be kind of diminishing returns.

Wondering again about the power usage thing, if I should delete the CPU F@H crunching slots, on both of the Thuban machines. (#1 is 2x 270X, 4 cores on CPU crunching, #2 is 3x GTX950, 3 cores on CPU crunching.)

Not crunching on my i5-6400 OCed on the CPU. Doing some WCG on the unused core(s) of my G4400 OCed rigs.
