$400??? You pay more than retail? What are you doing here?

I just picked this up at BB and only 2 of the rebates print out $50 & $100 plus it's marked as $99 after rebates so I doubt the third typo $50 rebate will fly but I will certainly give it a shot but you shouldn't count on it.

5gb - 300
10gb - 400
20gb - 500

after tax, shipping, discount, and what not, it's roughly the same price

I just picked mine up:

$249.99
- $24.99 10% off coupon from magazine
- $150 in two rebates
-----------------
~$75

Not bad! That's less than the cost of many 64mb MP3 players!

I just picked one up. It took me 15 minutes to upload about 2 GB of music. It's got some nice playlist functions and comes with an AC adapter for people concerned about battery life. It's about the size and weight of a portable CD player (in fact...it looks just like one). Heckuva deal for $99 (I used the 10% off coupon and got it for a bit less). I'm happy with the purchase. They printed the rebates out when I bought it, and they're 1 $100 rebate and 1 $50 rebate, not three $50 ones like the ad mentions.

You got the 10% off the 250 which makes this deal really hot. Thats about $75 after rebates!!

Like I said RETAIL. The search box is your friend. You should be able to knock about $100 off each of those prices. I had a 5gb Ipod about 6-7 months ago and it only cost $240 then.

Hey--I love the player, but hate this Creative Playcenter 3 software. Is there a way to play directly from the Nomad using another player like Windows Media Player? You can transfer using WMP, but I can't seem to get it to play directly from it.

I just checked the Meijer ad and they have it for $219.94. PM to $219.94 and use coupon!!!! I ordered one for in store pick up and got confirmation that it is being held. I will also pay with Amex Optima Plat. and find BVG matches!!!

Ohh credit for the Meijer ad PM goes to folks at that other forum.

I submitted a BVG to nexthardwareshop but the model # is not on the web page as the same. I circled the Blue 10gb as the model # on the BVG. In case it is rejected I am looking for a site with the DAPAG01 model # listed. Can't find one....

Is the DAPAG01 an obsolete or best buy only model??

Sounds odd but I do not find any with an exact match.

15 min for upload, not bad at all people, since all mp3 I have is just about 10G. They will just stay there. Don't forget upgrade the firmware. I found 3.41 at their website.

Are you sure its for the original Nomad? The latest I see is a 2.96 and a 2.97 Beta.

This is an original Nomad 10GB. The main difference between this and the later models is the battery life. This one uses 4xAA NiMH giving 4 hours of life whereas the Nomad 2 and 3 use Li-Ion giving 16 and 22 hours respectively. 4 hours is cr*p!

I found over 1/2GB of classical music on mine which might indicate a refurb. It was packaged as a new model though. Anyone else found this?

Got mine at BM. I like it a lot. Big hassle re PC World coupon. When scanned, it reduced price only $10 (10% of price after rebate?). Asked for a correction and in trying to do so the manager froze up the register. Moved to another register and they finally managed to override it.
I only got 1 set of 4 rechargeable batteries, not the 2 sets specified in the listing on the Best Buy site. I'll see if they can do something about that.

Same thing here--only 10% off, but they changed it to 25% with a manual override. I only got one set of rechargable batteries, too, and no case--but they're not specified on the box, so I think the ad was wrong. And would you believe mine just stopped working? The display won't even come on no matter what I try. I'm returning it tomorrow for another.

Edit: OK, it just started working again. I think I made the mistake of trying to use it too soon. It says to let 12 hours go by before starting it (letting it charge), and I started it almost right away.

BobSnob,

The music you found on your Juke is supposed to be a Bonus...it is not a sign of a return. My 6 gb model had this also. Everyone should have a bunch of music preloaded. Didn't yours have a bunch of crazy techno Japanamuzak on it?

I was trying to avoid this deal...but I was forced to jump in on it. As I have read the various posts I realized that a lot of folks are kinda missing an important fact here..simply...the price. I have 2 Iomega Hip Zips, 1 Intel Pocket Concert, 1 Nomad IIc, 3 Rio 600's and various other MP3 devices. I got most of these at great prices through this forum...but the simple fact of the matter is that very few of these retail/retailed for less than $150. The most built in memory any of these have is 120 mb (yeah I know the uses are meant to be different..you can not jog with the Juke) and I have spent a small fortune in click! discs and Smart Media cards of various sizes. 10 gb for less than $100!!!! Who cares about the battery issues at this price!!

I am still looking forward to a 1 gig Smart Media card (or equivalent technology). Now that will be cool.

Point taken! Anyway, it's easy to carry an extra set of batteries and it only takes 4 hours to recharge them in this puppy.

BTW I'm getting an upload speed of about 1.3GB/hour (370KB/s). Looks as though it's gonna take me 7-8 hours to fill it up!

Are you guys just dragging and dropping your files in? I really wanted to set mine up with playlists, correct the genre listings, etc, but find this Creative Player 3 software awful. What are you using? How do you do it?

(I know I can use software like Windows Media Player, but it doesn't allow me to transfer playlists over.)

You must have a crappy USB cable. It should go 2-3x that speed.

I'm just dragging and dropping. Have a look at MediaJukeBox, it supports the Nomad and should be better than the Creative s/w.
