Police in Ohio are searching for two brazen girls, believed to be as young as 12 and 14, who robbed a bank in a Cincinnati suburb and escaped a police dragnet that included a helicopter and dogs.

The baby faced bank robbers, one believed to be 12 years old and the other 14 or 15, entered the 1st National Bank in Symmes Township, "walked up to the bank teller, and gave the teller a note demanding money," Steve Barnett, spokesman for the Hamilton County Sherriff's Office, said in a statement.

Neither of the girls carried a weapon, but "the teller gave the suspects an undetermined amount of U.S. currency," according to Barnett.

The bank was robbed at 3:19 p.m. There was one teller, but no customers in the bank at time. No one was injured.

The girls were last seen fleeing in a easterly direction from the bank.

Damnit, I bet they learned what to do from videogames.
We need to ban more games so that children can't be influenced by them and end up doing this kind of thing.

Why? The teller didn't know they didn't have a weapon.

Seriously, how many pre teens can get a hold of a weap... oh wait, this is the US, they can get one from a drawer at home. Illegal gun, of course since it was used in a crime now.

Damn those illegal guns, eh?

Good idea to do this stuff at that age as you just get taken home to momma if you get caught. If not put it in an annuity and never work.

because young teens are going to understand what this "investment" stuff is.
but at that age, if it's any kind of decent loot, shit yeah it'd build for awhile. I bet it was the contents of a single drawer though, so probably nothing all that serious yet enough for the young girls to stare at the amount with a look of intense glee. Couple thousand maybe?

That is, if the teller at least wasn't brain dead. Who knows. If they walked away with tens of thousands or more, the teller should be locked up in a mental ward. "An undocumented sickness as of yet determined and to be the subject of much needed research."

... seriously though

Tellers should be told to sit there with a blank face, and simply say "no" if all a would be robber does is slide you a note.
I'd demand to see that piece of cold steel before even looking at where the money stash is. And in the mean time, contemplate pushing the silent alarm. Might push it, might not, depending on the way they were behaving (little ticks aren't that hard to detect if you pay attention to people) and depending on the likelihood of their ability to conceal a weapon somewhere.
They do have those silent alarm panic buttons under the teller spots like in the movies, yes?

But anyhow, I'd definitely take no action toward awarding them loot until I was given at least a glimpse of a weapon.
Yes, sometimes such actions like that might get one shot by someone who does have a weapon and panics, but I can act brazenly like that when it comes to threats.
this is how you do it

I live a few miles from this bank in the Mason area. The city has a black population of about 1.5%. It was very cold and snowing that day; the girls obviously didn't drive, should have left some footprints, and probably didn't walk very far. The closest housing to the bank are landominiums designed for retirees and a few low-income housing units.

The police still don't seem to be able to find these criminal masterminds.

That's what my question mark was for.
I'm sure whatever the teller did was part of the bank's policy. Money can be replaced, people can't. There's no reason for them to risk their life in this situation, unless they were absolutely positive the girls weren't armed, just hand over the money.

lol wow that's quite a lot of fail, but guess it's true the teller did not know what could have been awaiting. Perhaps the kid was sent by an adult that had a whole fleet of machine guns ready to take down the entire bank, or she had a weapon herself. No way of knowing.

Banks should have special lock down systems where a teller can push an emergency button that locks all doors shut and calls the police automatically. For the safety of everybody there the lock down could be set so the robber is between two sets of doors and not loose in the whole building. Basically you go out of the bank open the door but the next set is locked then the door you just open closes and is also locked from that side.

Yeah pretty sure it's a policy thing. Just do what the robber says no matter what the situation is, and let the authorities deal with the rest.
