So I used to be running to 12" subs one was a Sony explode 1500 the other was a Planet Audio m2 350 they were running just fin on my Rockford 250 prime when I switched my Planet Audio out with a Rockford P2 12 and now they won't hit. As soon as I connect the Rockford they start cutting out it's much bigger than the explode so I'm guessing it's possibly drawing too much power Im running 6 gauge wire with a 50 amp fuse from the battery like I said a 250 Rockford prime 16 gauge wire to the subs in a sealed Box as soon as I disconnect the Rockford they hit just fine but as soon as the rockford's connected It hits a little and sends my amp into protect.

What is the impedance of each sub including the one you removed.

The planet Audio rms was 200 flat but the explode pulls 800 I think. Rockford rms is 400. The Sony doesn't handle power well.

You can't connect the explode and the Rockford to that amp in parallel. It leaves you a 1.33 ohm load. As far as I can tell, your amp needs to see at least 2 ohms.

First, you need to make sure your amp can handle the 2Ω load of the Rockford. Also, just because the speaker specs say 200W or 800W doesn't mean that it draws that much wattage. It just how much the manufacture claims the speaker can handle. Your amp specs will list how much power output at any given load (Ω).

And yes, depending on how you have your speakers (parallel, series, bridged) makes a difference on the load (Ω / resistance) that the amp sees. Like NL5 says, it depends on how you have your speakers wired. When in doubt, read the amp installation manual.

You need to look at the model number on the amp and look up the specs on the amp. Unless it's a high end amp, it probably can't handle 1-2 ohms and needs 4-8 ohms. Go to crutchfield website and they have a calculator for how to wire subs up to an amp to get the correct impedance (ohm load).
