I'm certainly not naive enough to suggest that we can simply ban guns, and the problem goes away. The cat is so far out of the bag on that it would take decades to unwind.

With that said, those of you who say stupid shit like "he would have found a way to do it without guns"...give me a fucking break. This shit simply doesn't happen in any degree worth mentioning in countries with effective gun control. Guns ARE A PROBLEM in this country, and gun nuts solution is always MORE GUNS. They say this would be a perfect world if everyone was always prepared to shoot everyone else. What the hell is this country, the wild fucking west? If I could snap my fingers and make every privately gun in this country disappear, including my own, I would do it in a heartbeat. This perceived liberty we have that is for some reason so married to gun ownership just really inst worth the cost.

I was in the military and did the gas test and while it is bad it isn't anything like the gas being using in a large room. The test as given is in a small enclosed area after the gas is allowed to fill the room, it isn't a situation where you are in a large room, gas is deployed and you wait till it fills the room. It also effect different people different ways, me I just coughed a lot but I still had my vision intact and was more than capable of walking around and remaining functioning, it impairs but doesn't disable.


Gas canisters also do not release as fast as the FPS gaming crowds think, for an average sized theater you would not get complete coverage and it would take at least 15 seconds to have any effect beyond the first couple rows, and that is a huge amount of time. Unless he bought military versions the retail consumer versions are even slower at coverage.

The best explanation is what many movie goers said, they thought the smoke was part of the movie launching experience, like a villain dressed in costume for the movie.

I saw Brave this last weekend with my five year old. I had no problem looking across the theater to glare at a woman (as did half the theater) when her cell phone rang. She was not sitting very near me at all. I think some of you are letting your politics push what you want to believe a little too much.

There has been 24 major bomb attacks in London since 1990.
There were 21,527 firearm related incidences in the UK in 2006.

Removing the guns from civilian hands only give the criminals more power.

Banning anything doesn't address the issue, only the symptom. As long as they cut back on mental health spending, parents continue not caring , and core values fall it will continue to happen. To stop things like this you have to target why the person did it and not how they did it.

It saddens me when we go looking for something to blame other than the suspect when we are attacked like this. We tell ourselves that if we just had enough gun control or enough metal detectors or enough laws that the attack wouldn’t have occurred. We were not allowed to place the mask on until the gas filled the room, then we put on the mask when ordered and were told to find the exit, remove the mask outside, and recite our name , serial and rank and were required to remain where we were, and nobody in the company vomited, lots coughed, some hacked up stuff, but no vomiting .

I dont think either of those two points have anything to do with this.

The UK has had a long standing terrorist problem which is the reason for the bomb threats rather than random angry nutters.

Firearm related offences is a much more broad term in the UK, to put it in context there were (i think) about 40 firearms deaths last year in the UK. (that includes suicides as well I think).
