I'm sure this shooting was all in God's plan. Just like God planned Treyvon's death. :hmm:

You may want to reread my posts and find where I said that. In fact, I stated the opposite but you seem to be hell bent on arguing. I encourage you to reread my posts again, but this time perhaps a bit more thoroughly.
Uhm, you dumbasses saying CCW would have stopped this, this guy was in a fucking dark lit theater, used a smoke grenade device, HAD ON BODY ARMOR AND AN ASSAULT RIFLE. Do you honestly believe someone with a concealed pistol would have stopped him?
Rather than gun ownership the thing that strikes me about Americans is how angry you guys are.
The tales of road/consumer rage just on this forum are pretty shocking, and the way you guys act about political issues seems bizarre sometimes.
There's pretty much nothing you can do about gun ownership there, there's way too many of them sloshing around the population and it's not like there's an expiry date on them.
Just try, as a nation, not to take everything personally. That guy who you've never met, who's trying to pull in front of you isn't trying to insult you, he's just trying to get to work. Just let him in and move on with your day. The guy with different political/religious views to you didn't pick them as a criticism of yours, he just looks at the world differently. Just accept that different people like different things, it doesn't mean one of you is wrong.
In short, America you're an angry, angry country, it's time to chill out.
Yes, except he wouldn't have such easy means to massacre 12 dead and 38 injured without guns.

That's under the assumption that those with a CCW license wouldn't be the idiot that's doing the shooting in the first place. That's also the same bet that was taken when he was sold the firearms.
I understand your argument:
Good people don't shoot other people.
Therefore good people should own guns to prevent gun violence.
The question is, though, how do you know who's a "good person" and who's not?
Most will. Some won't.
A TRAINED police officer, on duty or off, should have the right to carry a firearm in my opinion.

Statistically people with ccw's never commit crimes.
And yet you're more likely to get shot by the cop. Most will. Some won't.

It's illegal to murder people, yet he did it anyway.
In your fantasyland where it's illegal to have a gun, what makes you think he won't obtain one anyway?
Obviously the dude was psycho and didn't care one bit about following the law.
Good. Now tell me what would happen if you increased the number of people with CCW's:
A massive decrease in crimes involving gun violence or an increase?
a CCW isn't a magic pill against violence. The reason it works now is because it requires a (usually) more thorough background check and sometimes other restrictions. Being lax with the requirements means you get more idiots with a CCW.

Just talked with my friend, he didn't go to the movie last night but he does live about two blocks away from the guy's house. At least he's safe.
.
People with CCW's aren't immune to idiotic behavior just because they carry a license. They're less prone to it, sure, but that changes as soon as you increase the volume and you're back at square one.
I'm a firm believer that it isn't the guns that are the problem but the people. To somehow state the CCW's aren't "people" but "super people" is fucking retarded.
