12' Toslink/S-Video A/V Dubbing Cable $9.97 @ Radio Shack

On my quest for a cheap optical audio cable this morning, I found this @ RatShack.

The full name of the product is Gold Series 12 Foot Fiber Optic Toslink A/V Dubbing Cable. Product # 15-1596. It includes both an optical cable and an s-video cable. At $9.97 it's half the price of the next cheapest optical cable at Radio Shack, and the S-Video cable is just a bonus!

The product isn't listed on the RS website, so YMMV.

Not a bad deal. I bought an 12' optical cable 3 weeks ago from Ratshack for $9.99. I could use an s-video cable too, hehe. I'm sick of switching the cable between my DVD and ReplayTV everytime I wanna watch one. Good deal, thanks!

Yep, both are 12' and are bound together, but can be separated easily.

wow, radioshack finally has a decent non-advertised deal on cables. i recall buying 10' coaxial cable there for ~$15. went next door to the 99cent store and they had 25' for ... $2.99! went back and returned it. of course quality wouldn't be as great i would expect from the 2.99$ cable, but hey, i saved big time and i dont really notice the small differences a 'expensive' coaxial cable and do.

Clerk was surprised but said they must be closing them out.

they must be clearance and discontinued... i work at RS.. and there not online cuz when something gets discontinued they pull it from the catalog.

The number makes it easier when I visit my local store to find out if they have any stock remaining and if not they can do a search for the part number in the local area.

Went straight to the counter at my RS and gave the guy the P/N.

RS Employee: "Why we have 6 in stock." <long pause as he looks at his screen again> "What's that, an S-video cable for $10!?"
Me: "Yep, with a digital audio cable!"
RS Employee: "You gonna buy them all? That's an awesome deal!"
Me: "No, I think I'll leave some for other people to get in on this, too."
RS Employee: "Cool, I'm gonna stow some away for me to buy!"

Normally $50! I snagged two of them. Thanks for the deal!

Yeah.. when the cents side of the equation (.97) is 97 that means they are discontinued..

try smaller RS stores.. larger one's probably will be sold out

they can also look up and see which stores have them in stock

I was in RS the other day and had gotten the 12" toslink/svideo

i looked for any component on sale, but they had none

totally forgot to pick up one or two of these....local store I pass has 3 of them, asking him to hold 2 of them for me, good idea to have a second one just in case.

Just in time too. I was gonna buy a home theater setup tomorrow but was having second thoughts. This deal must be a sign to go ahead and buy one Can't wait, I just love playing with new electronics

Too bad they don't have any video cables on sale. I'm gonna need some component cables too. Anyone know if these are also on sale. I forgot to check.

great find, great post! thanks for putting it up. I've been looking for just such a cable so I can route my pc over to the tv to watch some divx/mpeg4 movies.

just called my local ratshack and the guy pulled the last one in stock for me to pick up later tonight. score!
