so i have decided to get a new computer and i have decided to get a shuttle. I live in Canada and i don't need a moniter or a copy of windows.
Here are le specs
Processor:i5 3570k $240
Case/Heatsink/Mobo/Power Supply:Shuttle SZ77R5 Mini PC Barebone $350
Memory:8gb corsair vengeance
$50
Graphics Card:Evga gtx 670 $400
Hard Drives:
Intel 330 120gb $140 and reusing my seagate barracuda 1.5tb

The main concerns i have is that the 500w power supply in the shuttle is insufficient and that a gtx 670 would be too big to fit into the tiny form factor of the shuttle.

It'd help if you answered the questions in the sticky.

And I doubt that case would be a good for for the 670, even if it did actually fit that's a lot of heat in a puny box.

Newegg reviews say there's plenty of space for a card like that. The main problem I'm seeing is that the mobo doesn't come with a BIOS that can accept Ivy Bridge chips:
The only problem that exists with this system is that if you have an Ivy Bridge chip it will not work with the BIOS that come with this system. I knew that going in. After I got the box I called the Shuttle support and the tech had the new BIOS chip sent to me. They are aware of this issue and really fast track your RMA. I called them on Thursday evening and had the chip on Tuesday (you have to send the old one back), so very fast turn around. Installing the chip is a snap thanks to the ZIF socket.
An alternative would be to build your own system around, e.g. a BitFenix Prodigy.

The power supply will be fine - I've been running a 560Ti on my 500W Shuttle PSU for a good while now, which has about the same power consumption as a 670.

( http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_670/26.html vs
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_GTX_560_Ti/25.html )

My system (i5, 3 x HDD) comes out at 330W / 24A on 12V rail via an online PSU calculator - you'll have some reasonable headroom left for overclocking.

They say that so long as you have a GPU cooler that blows out of the case you should be okay with the recent Shuttles. You have to be careful with card length too - in my case the absolute maximum is 10.5 inches, looks like the Shuttle you linked is the same size.

I don't see why would would want to get a proprietary system like the Shuttle when you can build a standards-based ITX system for about the same budget. No proprietary components means no planned obsolescence or forced upgrades when the warranty runs out or your needs change.

Lian-Li PC-Q08B $110
ASRock Z77E-ITX $160
Seasonic M12II 520W $62
Total: $332
Thanks for the advice. I'll decide which parts i'll get tommorow.
