Hi, DorkBoy. I recently purchased a machine from Dell and ordered the ATI 9800 card from them. We most likely have the exact same cards.
Here is what I know, from using Rage3D as well as reading a bit...
The card has 8 pipelines enabled but has 9800 non-pro clockspeeds. It is an ATI 9800 Non-Pro -- I was worried for a while that it was a 9800 SE, thank the lords that it isn't. Since my card has Samsung memory (3.3 ns), it can be flashed to a 9800 PRO. The 9800 non-pro card showed up in my WinXP Device Manager as a 9800 PRO.
I went to
http://www.digitalsynapses.com/articles/9800npflash/ and followed their instructions to flash me card to the PRO speeds. It is pretty simple, as long as you have a floppy disk drive.
I use the 3.9 Cat drivers, my machine is a 3.2 GHz P4 with 1 GB of Crucial 2700 ram. My score on Aquamark3 went from a 38,000 (before the flash) to 44,000 (after the flash). I don't know anything about the Omega drivers people talk about, they may affect the scores too.
Hope it all works for you and I hope this post has helped you a bit. Enjoy the card.
