Heh heh..I think this deal was so dead a long time ago. I might be getting 2 more of them though. They shipped one already last week for $179.00 and going to call em and ask them to decrease the price to $99.99 since I got it on that day. Also, I ordered one thru in-store pick up but was never fulfilled so I got an email from them saying they could ship it which I asked em to do. If I have any left over I'll let you guys know...

I finally found a BB near me that had the drive in stock. They accepted my raincheck from another store (who had the $99 tag on the shelf but no drives) and I took it home. Bluish sticker on it, says 2MB buffer on the box, but it's a 6Y120P0 so it's 8MB buffer. Woohoo.

Last week, my Best Buy was out of stock, so they pricematched and just ordered me one. I received it at my door today and guess what??? It's the 8mb version! Whoo-hoo! Great deal!

I still have a few of these drives on order at BestBuy.com. Actually,
the orders are just sitting there because they were for in-store
pickup and the store didn't have any.

I just talked to the CSR and she told me that if I reorder the
drives at the current price from the Website ($180/ea) they
will pricematch them down to the price on my previous order ($100) if
I send them a request referenceing my previous order and the current
order.

Has anyone tried this? Did it work? I am a bit skeptical...

(Note that BestBuy.com will not change in-store-pickup to ship for
a existing order. They cancel the order and resubmit it (with the current
web price of $180). I had a CSR who told me otherwise, but that just
amounted to wasting my time...)

Well, I did have success:

1) Ordered drive online for instore pickup on Sunday 7:00PM (first day of the "BB reaction to CompUSA $99 price w/rebates") - online price was $180.

2) Received email notice that drive price was adjusted to $99.99 store price minutes later (still Sunday night).

3) Received email on Monday morning notifying that the drive was not in stock in the stores - giving me an option to order it online for free shipping.

4) Called up BB online CSR - she cancelled the original order, and told me to re-order it online for free shipping. I advised her of the adjusted in-store pickup price of $99.99 was less than the online $180. She gave me a case number and said that she would email the credit department to credit me the difference between the webprice of $180 and the online in-store pickup price of $99.99 on my original order.

5) Last night (eight days after initial order), received email from credit department advising that BB would be giving me back $81 and change on my credit card! Ka-Ching!

6) Drive is halfway to me at a UPS hub...

I got the drive last wednesday, and I got a mail today, which said they would put money back.
Well, mine is 2mb version, so I'm still thinking.

My order was cancelled today. I was going to let it sit and wait for it to come back in stock to pick it up locally, but they sent me a cancellation email today. I co-worker also received an cancellation email. Did anyone else have this happen? Also what can I do about it?

Got my drive today from UPS after receiving a credit back to my credit card - total $107 for the drive.

It was a P6Y3 = 8MB cache !! Thanks for the HOTDEAL SliderBob!

Just so you know, the P6Y3 on the outside of the box does not guarantee you an 8Mb cache drive! I purchased two online during this deal and both said P6Y3 on the outside of the box. Upon opening them one was a 2Mb cache (older label on the box), and the other the 8Mb cache drive. The 8Mb one had the newer light blue/dark blue label that said up to 33% faster/Ultra quiet etc.... The outside of the box both stated 2Mb cache sizes.

So I just got my drives, I think I have the 8MB version because of the blue stickers on the front. Any way to tell what version they are by looking on the actual drive?

Yes, look at the end of the drives static bag. It should state 6Y120P0 for it to be the 8Mb version.

The 2 I ordered finally came. The letters "P6Y3" have never filled me with such joy. Thanks K-squared for the eagle eyes, otherwise I would have pawned these off on eBay as 2MB versions.

Just got my drive today from UPS. It's P6Y3 with the blue sticker on the front "Up to 33% Faster, Ultra quiet", so it must be 8MB! Still more expensive than the 80GB I got at Staples for $50 AR, but can't complaint too much with the 8MB cache.

yeah, what is up with that?? I'm pretty sure all of us includes the receipt with our submission when sending in the rebates. Are they blind or something? Me thinks they're lying. They claim you didn't send receipt even though you did include one in there. It's happened to me before and I just faxed them another one.

Just called BB and they said that the drive was "180, and a 60 dollar rebate brings it down to 110". Now, I know this guy can't do any math, but presumable he knows how to read which rebate goes to which drive. $120 sounds like a good price.
