The two 120mm fans on my Thermaltake Tsunami are too loud for my tastes. Does anywone know of any QUIET 120mm fans that I can buy and where to get them? I would prefer ones with LEDs like the rear fan on my case.

Panaflos are great, but are all 38mm in depth, and may not fit your enclosure; many cases require 25mm deep fans. If you want extreme quiet, the Vantec Stealth 120mm fans are dual ball-bearing and ultra-quiet. They don't move as much air as some, but they're a good choice.

As for LED's, most LED fans are engineered for looks, not for quiet. Coolermaster makes one, but it's even lower on the airflow than the Vantecs by 10CFM (42CFM for a 120mm fan is pretty low). Antec makes one that's has good airflow and has a better LED design than anyone else, but is not the quietest. Note that the clear plastic for LED fans also tends to be more brittle in the long run.

Panaflo 120mm L1A fan
(NOTE: The site says they are 25mm deep, they are not, they're 38mm...this is one of the few places carrying this fan, though)

I meant to say for the CFM/DBA ratio you will not find an equal. 12cfms seems like very little to me do you have any heat probs at all? That is quiet lol I must admit though.

What about replacing the 90mm fan? It's an odd size, so I haven't been able to find an LED fan replacement for it. Any ideas?

yeah i know, they push low CFM compared to others, no heat probs.. i mean the case gets ventilated.. there is not much of a draft so to speak, but everything is low RPM in my PC and it runs like a charm, even with an OC'd 6800GT. there is airflow, just a nice quiet breeze though.. the loudest fan in my PC (I just tested) is the 92mm vantec stealth on my XP-90.. sounds like a bearing more than airflow noise. damn.

I'm a fan of these aluminum Evercool fans. Granted, they don't have LED's, but they do have very low noise from the bearings, and minimal vibration. Their noise is mainly the whooshing of air, and there's not much sound, considering the amount of air they push. I have two of them in each of my two Antec SLK3700AMB cases. I replaced my nice green case I modded myself back when it was all the rage - now, these two Antec systems, with a total of 7 hard drives between them, make less noise than that one green case did, with all of its fans (something like 4 or 5 case fans) all over the place.

The holes on the one side of the fan are a bit weird though; they are too wide for regular case screws. I don't know why Evercool did this; if it comes down to it, that you want a fan grille on both sides of the fan, you can always use 1.25" or 1.5" 6/32 machine screws, and both through from the opposite side. But that's only if you want a grille on the intake side of the fan.

I am thinking of getting the 1600RPM model of the Silenx 92mm fan. Just gotta find a cheap place to buy it from and I'll get it... the Vantec definitely has a loud bearing. I think I might trade in my PSU also for something even more quiet.. it's not loud, but i can definitely tell it's there.. (X-connect)

i've heard that silenx is a bit of a shady company, and they boosted their own rep on www.silentpcreview.com i suggest nexus, especially since someone found a stock retailer for their fans, and you might be able to get them real cheap. the manufacturer of nexus fans are yate loon. look it up - you'll find a lot of silent pc modders consider them the holy grail of fans.

I think the stock fans in the Tsunami are just as quiet as any of those fans mentioned above. I don't think you'll see a noticable difference. Better to invest in some sound insulation or maybe a fan control. The fan controls look cool in the box BTW.

I was in your shoes. Hated the loud fans in my Tsunami. I replaced them with SilenX 120mm LED fans. the silence is sweet and my case has the same temp as before (26 C), so airflow is good. Somehow I don't see SilenX as a shady company. Their fans put out and stay silent.

I tried the Coolermaster 120mm LED. They are silent but don't move any air.

I wanted to replace them too...I realised that the "quite" 120mm fans cost around $20...(exception was the globe fan but was backordered)...Wasnt sure I wanted to spend that much on a fan....Decided to hold off as I wasnt very uncomfortable with the noise level with the stock fans....cools very well too.

My CoolerMaster fans ended up costing $12 Cdn per fan.. not a bad price, and dead silent of course.

They are not shady at all.

Have you used both fans? The TT's are "extremely" loud compared to the Silenx 120mm 14dba's. The difference is in the "hearing" not the "seeing." If you are an "extreme" oc'er stick with the TT 120mm's.
