It's been a while since I've done much modding, and now I'm wanting to use case fans for another purpose, cooling my home entertainment system. I'm planning on hooking up a couple 120mm fans behind my entertianment center to use for intake/outtake of air.

In the past, I always stuck with Panaflo fans because of their lack of noise, but those were 80mm. What I'm looking for is the best deal in regards to 120mm fans, or possibly ones that have adjustable heat sensors and auto adjust their speed (do those exist?) Any suggestions would be appreciated. I need these to be unheard but push as much air as possible, and if possible, have them shut off when not needed.

forutnately it wasn't. After some remeasuring, I've realized I need 92mm fans anyway. I just got back on the bandwagon and did the research. It's been nearly 2 years since I was into modding, so I wasn't sure what if anything has changed. I've turned on private messages, I didn't realize it was off.

Good. JIC you were unaware: You can get fans with thermal sensors built in so they will run nice and slow until a certain temp is exceeded when they will start ramping up in speed with temp increase and slow back down when temp is reduced. Fairly easy to find in 80mm and 120mm fans, but I haven't seen a lot in 92mm fans (probably because there aren't as many 92mm fans out there on the sites I frequent. I'll look around and see what's on my fave sites.

I saw somewhere on avsforums where someone created their own sensor that actually turned the fans off at a certain temp, instead of just lowering the voltage. I'm going out to my local radio shack today to see what I can find.

Actually I think I'm going to use the switched power connector on my receiver to turn them off when it's off. That way I'll have the temp sensor for when they're on and that to turn off when they're not needed. Just got my Ac-to-dc adapter and need to order the right fans now.
