Memory prices are dropping fast at pricewatch. Generic pc133 128mb is at $65 and Micron is $97.

this sucks (not the deal). i bought a stick of moshel pc133 cas2 128 stick a week ago for $123. today it's listed at $112. and now this deal shows up for apprx the same speed ram for $95!!! granted, the mosel is better quality blah blah, but if it works the same, it works the same.

at this rate, by the end of the month, my mosel would be at $85 and the generic stick would be at $50!!! like the heinz commercial always says, good things come to those who wait

Well Guys googlegear.com have SAMSUNG 128MB PC133 SDRAM 7.5 NS 168 Pin DIMM Onsale Today(Tuesday) for just $92.00 !!! Like Nack said, it should be able to do cas2 just fine because this is Samsung not generic.... but don't trust me too much on that.

the googlegear seemed like a good buy. I looked at shipping and handling and it would be 15.90 plus 5.00 shipping. Even though they are just forty minutes away. Why charge for each piece? They are shipped in the same box. Why do I live in CA? I also get the tax bite. I may as well get the Mosel from Mushkin. Better warranty and usually better quality.

I got this ram yesterday and am running at 138 cas2-2-2. I had it at 140 but my cpu is a little too hot there. It ran 3dmark2000 at 140 cas2 perfectly though. Too bad I got it when it was $94. The pcb is a little flimsy but it gets the job done.

jjlee101, could you do me a favor and run the ram at 144 cas 2 just for awhile to see if it's stable? That is if you can do 144 fsb... I'm tryin to decide if i want this or the pc150 at cas2 for a gaureentee. I need at least 144 at cas 2. Thanks

how do you test a memory for its cas rating? I was payed a 64mb slab of pc100 last year for doing a web site au lieue of cash, and now I'd like to find out the timings on it.. is not labelled at all, can I do it in my bios or anything?

elSmoko, goto download.com and search sandra. Sandra is a great benchmark for memory, cpu and hdd... Once it's installed you can goto mainboard info and scroll down to memory modules and it tells you make model, serial number, ratings and speeds.

Techwhore, thanks for the tip. I've been staring at the results from this program in benchmarks for years but I didn't actually realise I could download it and play around. Unfortunately, looks like my ram is crap :

module 1 Samsung KMMblahblah 128mb cl2->83mhz, cl3->100mhz (pc100 322 622)
module 2 MK3blahblah(no brand) 64mb cl2->83mhz, cl3->125mhz (pc125 334 622)

any idea if I can use this crap ram with a new duron and a kt7 mobo? That is the new plan, but I've heard both that you do and you dont' need pc133 ram to do it. thanks

El Smoko, I've used old Pc100's from an AMD K6-2 Azza mainboard and they worked fine on an AMD KT133 chipset Abit KT7 motherboard. They were also no namers and different generic modules(32mb each). I'm sure yours will run just as well. You most likely won't have to upgrade. It's not registered is it? I heard registered memory does not work with the KT133 chipset.

Looks like Sandra is not doing it, because I am using Windows 2000. Guess I have to wait till SiSoft release its Samantha vesion. Anybody know any other software will do the memory check?

This has been a good and informative thread... maybe we should change the title and move to cpu/processors/and o/c'n or general hardware. I would like to keep this going to some extent, there's always something to be learned when it comes to ram. What do you guys think?
