Youre right. I dont see it on the ad anymore, but it shows up in cart still. Selling the game would put it at the $100 range. Me personally, id rather have an intel and I need at least 160GB really. 128GB is just too small for me.

This is the Pro model, which is faster, so it's actually a pretty good price. I would think that the non-pro versions should probably reach $80 on sale sometime soon.

well ssds still have a long way to go until they approach RAM speed

until we get to persisted RAM storage i will attempt to eke out every bit of performance that i can!

I suppose I could be wrong, but I thought that the 830 drives were basically maxing out the SATA6G interface, weren't they? I guess I don't see how 840 Pro drives could be worth their price premium over them.

I guess I see buying an 840 Pro like I see people buying Monster-branded HDMI cables. Sure, they might be a little better, but better enough to warrant paying double the price of alternative products?

Edit: To put it another way, imagine that this was $100 off the price of a $1000 "Extreme Edition" Intel CPU. Sure, it might be a great deal for someone specifically in the market for an Extreme Edition CPU, but for most folks, the value just isn't there, unless the price somehow magically came down to earth, in line with competitive alternatives.

For example, you can regularly get the Intel 330 180GB drive for $100. 180GB is worth more to me than a slightly faster 120GB drive. ("Slightly faster" == faster in benchmarks, but not percievable in actual use. Most SATA6G SSDs perform similarly in actual usage.)

If you can find an 830 for under $120 not to mention a $50 game for free. I've been waiting for over a month and havent found it. I definately do see your point though and its valid for the most part but in this case we are talking about next gen (non-Sandforce) SSD's which would be 830 or 840 or possibly some others, also of which I have not seen on sale for the last month.
