128mb or 256mb 9800 pro?

Obviously the 256mb is better than the 128mb for the 9800 pro, but is it really worth buying? Is there a HUGE difference?

The bigger difference is between 128-bit and 256-bit, in which case get the 256-bit without a doubt, the performance is DEFINATELY worth it. 128MB vs 256MB is not as much, unless you are BIOS flashing to an XT.

256MB is about like 1-3% faster only with extreme settings which it will be running crappy anyways.

Dont get a 9800Pro anymore. The 6600GT beats it in almost every category is the same price or cheaper with more features.

256mb cannot be adressed effectively (latencies) unless you have a high end card (ie X800 or 6800) as they are fast enough to negate/overcome the latencies.

All things being equal I wouldn't bother with 256 MB on a 9800 Pro unless the price difference was small.

yeps, the 128mb crowd r on the money IMO (tho i've got a 128 )

From the benches b4 i bought, you get a few fps gain with the 256mb when u hit 1600x1200, and at that res she can't really hack it usually i'm afraid

Either way u'll be happy, but the 128mb is the value job, or the 6600GT

The only time that extra ram will come in handy is when running at very high resolutions, like 1600x1200. And the card doesn't have enough horses to run that res playably so the extra ram is effectively useless.

the ONLY advantage of the 256MB version is that it can be flashed to a "true" 9800xt . . . . ~10% performance improvement over a 9800p-128MB.

And i got mine last Spring for $223 . . . . so it was a good deal.
