Buckeye. Not 100% true. I had a P2 233 LX MB 3 years ago and accidentally bought P100 SDRAM. The machine didn't work.

maybe not on all boards...I have a LX board too (466 celery). I have two sticks of RAM running with no problems. 1. kingston value ram 128 MB(PC 66), and 2. PNY 64 MB (PC 100). so far no probs
waiting for the PNY 128 MB(PC 100) and Kingston 128 MB(PC 133) that I ordered yesterday from Staples. Hope they come...

I went to a local Staples store. The PNY PC100 128 meg has some weird chips I have never seen before. The PC133 though uses Infineon chips. hmmm I guess I'll just have to sell these away.

You know what? Staples is scamming US here. I just tried twice to get this item PM'd (the PC100) and got the "wrong part number" song and dance. You know what Staples did? That number that Staples has on record, "64174ESEM-CS" is bogus. Check PNY's product lookup:

PNY's Product Lookup Search

Try the Onvia number - 64174ESEM4G it works. Try Staples number "64174ESEM-CS" - "none found"?

Try the root, just 64174, it brings up all wildcards, none match Staples. Where does Staples get off claiming a Manuf. part number that the manufacturer acknowledges doesn't even exist??????

They created their own unique Manuf. Part Number. Guess what that means: by their own policy, impossible to price match. Scum. I've lost total respect for them. I wonder if we're going to start seeing more of this. I went through the same crap PMing the Yamaha speakers where I had to convince the guy that the "WHT" at the end of their part number and the "BLK" at the end of the other one referred to color only, that the item was the same.

I'm going to call them right now for the 3rd time and challenge them to validate this part number with PNY. This is bogus!!

Update: Just called, got the nicest CSR in the world, didn't give me an inch of grief, got the deal, no yelling. He did say that he could see that I'd called and ordered twice already today. Maybe they put in a note "This guy's on the verge, if he calls again, give him what he wants." But that part no. is still bogus.

I did the deal this morning (PST) pricematching with Onvia - no problems whatsoever. Final price including taxes: $53 before the $40 rebate. I tried to do the pricematch first with Buy.con -- they had it for $72 on their website, but when the Staples CSR went there, it was already out of stock -- it was in stock yesterday.

I called just now and the CSR seems to be very willing in price matching. BUT both onvia and buy.com are sold out.
Do you know anyone else that's selling it for about the same price?

I just got this Hot Deal done! But it was a pain in the a**. I called this morning and was told that the numbers didn't match. Then I called the PNY tech support line and was told that the suffix on the Staples part number just indicated packaging type; the product was identical to what Onvia is selling. Called Staples back and gave them the contact info for PNY. Staples finally called back and verified that the RAM is the same and would price match IF Onvia had it in stock but it is out of stock now. I told them that it WAS in stock when I initially tried to place the order so they should honor the deal. After talking to his supervisior (thanks Shawn!), they finally did the deal! I bought a 16 cent box of paper clips to get over the $75 mark and used the $25 off of $75 coupon. My total before the $40 rebate is $53.66 plus a little tax. Net cost shold be about $15! Thanks for all the info guys!

called again TODAY
and when I told him the menufacture number was incorrect, the CSR went got her supervisor.

So, I was talking to the superviser about this problem, and he knew about it. But he told me that onvia did NOT have it in stock right now. What he can do it offer me $75 discount + $25 overnight shipping.

$179.97 - $75 + $25 - $25 coupon + tax - $40 rebate = $73.1
NO SAVING AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I argue with him for half hour. I said I was trying to order yesterday while Onvia still has it in stock, but you guys mess the whole thing up. So I sould get the price because I had called yesterday! However, he wan't convinced. He said that it was best he can offer. So I request to speaker with his supervior (supervisor's supervisor), but he said that his supervisor went home early today, and asked me to call again tomorrow ............ gee, I can't believe that I spent 30 minutes for NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!

I called and he wouldnt give me it, so i argued about how staples uses phoney numbers but he said that his supervisor said no. They must have gotten alot of calls because when i said the word pricematch, hes like "with onvia ram?" haha, oh well.

They must get flooded with calls when deals like this come up. The sup's get involved and the excuses start flying. What I would love to see now is for another vendor to price match against...I might just go lookin' one

One CSR I spoke with said they had this deal up "on the board". Apparently, when a hot deal starts to register with them, they put their heads together and start thinking of a global excuse, then brief all of the reps on it. For her it was that the part numbers don't match. Another excuse I heard was that Onvia was out of stock. The $25 overnight delivery fee was yet another excuse they came up with. However, I'm going to keep this in mind from now on. When the first 11 digits of a part number matches, and a suffix doesn't, there's something wrong there.

Take it easy with the CSR, combination of pricematch and coupon would be short live if these CSR bring the heat on!

The rebate is from Staples, not from PNY. All my Staples
rebates have arrived quickly so far.

I agree...it is staples rebate , which you can track on-line. only thing is that when the check comes, you will be surprised to see that they just sent the check as it is...no protection, no envelope...anyone can see it and if its stolen, then you know what happens.

I can't find the 128MB PC100 at staples.com. I tried the linkfield above and it just brought me to the default staples page. When I go to memory and PNY it gives me some overpriced 32 and 64 meg chips but no 128 meg chips. Can someone please give me the correct link, thanks.

Also, what is the phone number to pricematch staples.com. They have 64MB PC100 for 99.97 with a $30 mir. Onvia.com has it for 39.99 and with a $10 off coupon it would be basically free after rebate.

here are the addresses:

onvia.com link

go to staples.com and search for item #384153

EDIT: egghead.com has the 128 meg chip Part number 64174GSEM4G-PC in stock for 71.99, if onvia.com pricematch worked then this should work too
