On my dual Xeon L5420 server:
Mapping Cancer Markers tasks takes ~4 hrs
OpenZika tasks takes ~1 hr
Outsmart Ebola Together tasks takes ~1 hr

On my single Xeon E3-1230v3 server:
Mapping Cancer Markers tasks take ~2 hrs
FightAIDS@Home tasks take upwards of 12 hrs

Flush the work units? Is there a how-to in this thread?

Only necessary if you have disabled network communications in the BOINC client, which allows you to cheat by finishing tasks but not yet reporting them. Generally bunkering, as it's often called, is encouraged actually, by the race organizer, so it's not cheating.

PrimeGrid races are the exception. The only tasks that count are the ones download AFTER the race starts.

Flush the work units? Is there a how-to in this thread? I have too many things going at once...

BTW, Tony, I used the link you provided here in the office, and it loaded a customized version of BOINC, I think, with IBM branding. I assume other machines which have vanilla BOINC on them will work just as well, though the instructions for dumping the WUs might be different.

Dumping units? Just suspend network comms for a while, let tasks complete, and when its time for the challenge to start, enable network comms to upload, and the client will update and dump the completed units.

crashtech. Yesterday I set the network setting to "syspend network activity" after I had set some other settings to cache 10 days of work. So now I have a queue to flush. You don't have that setup I am sure.

well. Tony said "wait a few minutes" so I waited 31 minutes, and dumped about 100 tasks.

Its on for me !

I dumped quite a load. Took nearly 18 minutes to flush it all. Thought I was going to have to use a plunger.

Oooh! We have stats already. We are in 9th!

Bunkering tends to lead to a fast start and a fall down the ranks.

I would add that, if you bunkered before the race, now would be a good time to load up those queues again. Working on older WUs makes it more likely that your wingmen will come in before the end of the race. The only difference is that you don't have to hold the results to flush them. (Although you can. )

I think I have 6 days of WCG stored up. Should I bunk up on for the PrimeGrid, that's starting on the 18th, I have at least a days worth waiting to crunch for those that are going to do both races.

I was going to no new task WCG and suspend network until Prime starts.

No, for PrimeGrid work to count the work has to be downloaded after the race starts.

iwajabitw, let your WCG run and set PrimeGrid to no new tasks until the actual start of the race. If you can't be around to set it to get work at the start of the race set the "store at least days of work" to 0.1 and the "store up to an additional days work to 0.0. That should give you one work unit at a time and the worst case would be lost time of one WU.

Done, aborted my cache of Prime wu's, letting a couple finish. If the start time is UTC midnight 11/18, Ill be home, otherwise, I will leave teamviewer on and start it from my phone

TeamViewer is indeed a lovely thing. I'd say let the bunker loose iwajabitw. They have a long 'shelf life', but they do expire and then don't get counted. I agree Mark, I think we may catch up to HardOCP.

Ok I seem to have some numbers:
On my dual Xeon L5420 machine:
OpenZika tasks run for about 1.38 hrs with average credit of 51.35 with a standard deviation of 2.22, sample size 15
Outsmart Ebola together runs for about 1.24 hrs with average credit of 49.69 with a standard deviation of 11.16, sample size 15
Mapping Cancer Markers runs for about 4.35 hrs with average credit of 111.57 with a standard deviation of 4.80, sample size 15

On my single Xeon E3-1230v3 machine:
FightAIDS@Home runs for about 12.22 hrs with a standard deviation of 0.68, with average credit of 418.83 with a standard deviation of 4.37, sample size 7
EDIT4: OpenZika runs for about 0.85 hrs with standard deviation of 0.32, with average credit of 46.75 with a standard deviation of 16.59, sample size 15
Mapping Cancer Markers runs for 3.34 hrs with a standard deviation of 0, with average credit of 124 with a standard deviation of 0, sample size 1

EDIT1:Oh btw for the next race DO NOT bunker FightAIDS@Home tasks they seem prone to not validating, aka I had 15 tasks go not valid even though the machine is fine

EDIT2:Using these numbers credit per hour:
OpenZika: 37.21/hr
Outsmart Ebola: 40.07/hr
Mapping Cancer Markers: 25.65/hr
FightAIDS@Home: 34.27/hr
EDIT3: You may have noted a new addition to my signature or not......
