+12v question...

I'm starting to not like my new 780i mobo... I think my power supply may not have enough juice but BIOS/everest have the same thing at about 12.6 and speed fan/sisoft sandra are both way lower at 8-10v depending on load. I guess I forgot to pull up sandra for the screenie but you get the point... which is most likely right?

Also, isn't 1.33v cpu core a lil high for no OC? mobo set to idle.

and one last question, that may not belong here but it's on the pic... 3dMark06 - should it say the 8800GT's are running in SLI or is that normal??

Oh yea, almost forgot... temps, how does CPU differ from Core 1 and Core 2? I always though it was the outside of the cpu somewhere but shouldn't it be cooler than the cores even at idle?

everest 2007 and everest 2008 are both wrong on my 12v sensor. just use a voltmeter, its easy.

3DMark06 doesn't say you're running SLI unless you upload your score on their ORB. You will see there something that says "Graphics Co-Processor" (something like that) You can tell it by the score, though. You should get about 16K with your setup.

Did you leave your CPU voltage 'Auto'? If so try lowering it manually in the BIOS. At stock speed, 1.12~1.20V should suffice for an E8400.

In spite of the voltage, your temperatures look fantastic. 30C for CPU and 50C for MCP? You can't get better than that with air-cooling. And different temperatures for different cores are perfectly normal. And in some cases the difference can be quite big. (~15C) Your temps are extremely good and actually I get jealous! Oh and If you can run 3DMark06 for 4~5 loops without reboot or other anomalies (run at higher than default setting to stress GPUs more), your PSU should be fine.

lpori - The issue has become, I'm not able to run 1 3dmark06 without a hard lock. The last time I was watching the SlI meter on the side of the screen to see if it was being used, which it was. but it was kind of pulsating, which I though was strange. It would jump to about 80% then fall to about 30% and went back and forth rapidly for the first 2 GPU test, hard lock on cpu test load . I know the SLI utilixation wont stay at a cerint level, but it shouldnt' jump all over the place like that should it? when I was able to get 3dmark to complete it was about 133xx don't remember the exact number, it was maybe 250 more than running 1 card.

I'm very happy with my temps as well(droped Vcore to 1.2 and idle at 27c or 23c if you like speedfan :laugh: ) Antec 900 w/ Tuniq Tower 120 and some good old silicon paste!!... can't wait for the water cooling to start wanna break 4.5ghz on this bad boy. If I could only get enough power to it.

The other thing that makes me think it's a PSU related issue, I can't OC for poop. 3.6 VERY unstable, maybe 5 min prime95 before error. I got it to boot once at 4050 1.4vcore MCP 1.45 FSB 1.4(I think) but took about .5 sec for both cores to throw up errors that and it wont boot into windows if I set the RAM to 2.2v like it's supposed to be... stupid computers needing power and stuff! - I'm satrting to think this should have gone in the power supply fourm..

yes I could see them in BIOS but I think the strain SLI was putting on the system didn't apply there, not 100% sure tho.

I got my 1kw Antec in yesterday and everything is much better, speed fan is showing 11.89v on the +12. I can actually OC both CPU and GPU's now! even at stock speed bumped 3dMark06 by about 4k.

I know 1kw is overkill for the system as it sits not, Thinking about getting a watercooling setup which will make it about right.
