12volt Neon Wire kits at Target 75% off... YMMV

Most targets recently marked down the neon car accessories to 74% including some nice neon wire kits... The wire kits I found were purple, pretty good quality, and 6ft in length for $4.44 (reg 19.99) Pretty good deal... even comes w/ a tube of super glue to tack it down to things. Great for keyboard mods... It says any 12v source will do. They had other neon things and even some small strobe lights ... all are 12v powered. Not sure what kind of tubes the neon kits contain but none of them seem to put out any heat.

As usual check your end caps near automotive... and in some areas YMMV but most seem to be doing this markdown.

bump for a good deal

I did the keyboard mod this morning and it came out awesome. Works perfectly. Not bad for $4.44!

I bought a few of these back when they were on sale for $17 each. Nice kit, I used a blue one to illuminate the inside of this modified case. Anyone interested in buying this should be aware the power transformer makes a high pitch squeal when on.

I can tell you I bought all the different types... (So cheap!!!) Each that I tried (different types of illumination devices) were cool to the touch and no sqeels or humms or anything else. All seemed like quality 12v producs. Definately nicer power suply packaging than those $20 "kits" you see out there.

Am I reading this right? Are these things 6 feet long??
How would you use that for a keyboard mod?

Edit:
Nevermind.. I'm stupid.. I just realized this was a wire and not a bulb...

Going to check in Jersey tomorrow, because I'd REALLY like this to line my case window with. Case modding sites sell this for ridiculous prices - I'd LOVE to grab 6 ft for $4.44.

sweet!!

I hope they still have some in the Northridge stores, since I'll be going there this weekend. Otherwise, I don't have any Targets' near me at all....*sniff*

Man, I'd love to get some blue for myself, and some green for a friend that I'm helping build a top of the line computer (for this week ), since he loves the color green....

I hope, I hope, I hope...

I've been to several stores in the New England area and I can tell you that the only ones I've seen (just about every store had them) were purple. Either the others went already... or they are getting rid of this one only right now. Not sure about that.

I saw the same thing, 6' for $16.99, but the 15' was $9.95 from $39.99. I grabbed that. All the ones at my Target were blue.

How did you mod your keyboard? did you run string back to the computer for power or tap power in the keyboard?

PS. My target doesn't have this on sale yet? :-(

Cheers,

Truck

Thanks for the info - picked up a 6ft blue and a pulsating purple.
One big question though, How do I connect these cords with car cigarette adaptors to work either from my mains ac or from my motherboard?

Any help or links appreciated!

Edit
Never mind; electrics were never my strong point. Doesn't look too difficult at all; found this place offering kits for $20. Sure we could find cheaper units elsewhere.
