Kudos to the French gang who managed this seemingly impossible task. While the results may be predictable to an extent, what makes this test stand out from others is that it standardized the platforms so that there are very little outside variants present to skew the data. There are aggregate benches around the web, but none of them claim to be as scientific as this one. (Some look like downright lazy compilations of the past or even products of bias)
So this data, assuming produced as accurately as possible, may be of a huge value for many - especially for those who have older systems and are thinking of upgrades. According to them, the following test beds were used.
