133fsb vs. 200fsb? X_X

I'm currently running 133FSB w/ 15x multiplier (4/6 divider for ram). My question is that is running 200fsb worth it? What improvements would I see? What downsides are there to it? Wouldn't the northbridge run a lot hotter than it is now?

200x10 would probably be better with 6/6 FSB/RAM so they clocks are in sync, should improve performance very slightly.
Plus the clock speed will still be ~2GHz, so no difference there.

There *shouldn't* be any real downside if your motherboard can handle 200MHz, and you will see a small increase in performance, but not an awesome amount (I wouldn't expect).

You might as well try it anyway, see what happens, if you only run it for a bit it won't kill your system.

Thanks... but my concern is really for the northbridge chip. I don't want to cut its life short by running too high a FSB and heating it up too much. Also, I have been hearing that the Abit chipset coolers tend to die a bit early.

Sigh... too bad they don't have temp diodes on chipsets =P

I assume you're referring to the rig in your signature. If you are, you have nothing to worry about.

First of all, your motherboard Northbridge can handle at least 400MHz FSB (200 double pumped) and has active cooling in place of passive cooling which would be just fine too. Secondly, yes, 200FSB is worth it. Every little bit of extra bus between the CPU and NB is helpful. Go for it!

I would definitely up the FSB to 200. Check my sys specs in my sig, but I've actually gotten it to 434MHz FSB total and from the little 3DMark testing I did it was stable. If you're worried about your Northbridge, then definitely invest in an aftermarket cooler. They aren't too expensive and will help w/system stability
