Remember @Markfw its not about the points we produce, its about the results. Even if it says we are 9th as a TeAm for example, its the results we deliver to WCG, and various scientists. And the challenege is just a way to accelerate their research.

Maybe we should be working harder to recruit more TeAmmates, I see many participating in WCG who might be able to give a bit more or switch to the correct projects if they knew there was a race on.

Has there ever been a DC article on the main page? I am sure many people read the article and reviews yet never visit the boards.

Make a thread in moderator discussions, asking that it be put somewhere, either Anandtech main page or somewhere else in the forums ?

I think that decision would be best advised by the TAC. It just got me thinking how many more members could we pick up if our Sprints and Contests were announced on the main page along with maybe some news from projects the team participates in. Just a thought, can we have our own editorial section? Haha

Recruting on the boards has always been forbidden.
There have been a few front page articles but very few. Last year there was one for the F@H race between us and Toms as both are now owned by the same corporation.
Hardware testing at one time on Anandtech included some DC but no more.
We have our own spot here and hope people stop by and we can reel them in.

I wonder at the reasoning is behind forbidding any recruiting. Maybe it became excessive or annoying enough to be seen as spam? It's not like anything is being sold though, and if TeAm Anandtech does well, it can't help but make Anandtech look good. Oh, well. At least the link in my sig is tolerated.

Thats why I said for someone to create an MD thread. Who knows, it might get approved.

@crashtech, my guess is that off-topic posting would be a big problem. (Off-topic content in signatures OTOH is not, obviously and necessarily. Besides, forum members can opt to view the forums without signatures. I for one do so, as they distract me too much.)

I got slapped pretty good a few years back, when I received my "massive cross-posting infraction."

ALL I did was post the same recruitment message in EVERY subtopic of the forum. lol

I am quite pleased to see us higher than 9th place for this challenge (our 'normal' place during the Pentathlon of '17). Really nice having Mark fully onboard, creating 1M race points per day all on his own.

In other news, I've been running F@H for just less than 24 hours, as we have that race coming up for at LEAST the month of December, internally, and against....Brony?...@home through Feb if my memory serves me. Currently I'm only looking at about 5.5M ppd, but I'm hoping to learn how to under-volt to save energy, without affecting output too much.

I'm also hoping to learn how to run Linux/BOINC.

I'm also hoping to win the lottery.

Thanks Tony ! as for my PPD in F@H, its hanging at about 10 million PPD. If I didn't have thousands in medical bills, and the recent 1080TI and threadripper, I would have 2 more 1080TI's. They do close to one million PPD. When I got them, they did 1.2 million, but the current work units usually have them at 850k-950k ppd. I have 5 of them, and right now thats the spread. I will post my screen shot of my farm, so you can see how 980,980TI,1070,1080,1080TI's all do. The card is in the computer name field..

And Tony, in WCG, thats one million per WEEK, not per day for me.

It would appear we have settled into 8th place, and that is a good fit for our team. We placed 9th in the Pentathlon earlier this year in WCG.

Our step up is likely due to some new users (woohoo! ), new systems online (ThreadRippers!), and the ability to have some sizeable bunkers ready ahead of the race.

It is far from over (2 more days, 13 hours), and although it doesn't look like we will be caught from behind, it does look like we will be really close in points to the 7th place team.

Great job to everyone so far, and keep crunching!

8th place the highest you guys have ranked in the Birthday Challenge? I believe our highest was 11th two years ago.

I looked around how the top 25 teams are made up. I used the production from Sunday 00:00-24:00 UTC as a measure.

Columns "rank"..."percentage" are according to WCG points listed at SETI.Germany's contest site (converted into BOINC credits by dividing by 7). "percentage" is the team's production relative to the total production at the contest, on Sunday.

Columns "users producing >100k"..."average production per user" are according to BOINC credits listed at stats.free-dc.org, which are almost, but not exactly, the same as the credits according to SETI.Germany's contest site. "Users" of course include individuals as well as organizations; but there are almost none of the latter.

The users are grouped by production without discriminating between actual production on that day versus bunkers released on that day. The number of 10k+ users includes users producing 100k+; the number of 1k+ users includes 10k+ and 100k+ users, and so on.

Congrats, Skillz, on your team not only being #1 in your FB League, but beating the score of Gridcoin in league one!!!

Sorry that we get moved up to league one next year and don't get to compete against your team.

EVGA has been putting up good numbers though, they will likely be your new best freinds/enemies. Friendly/polite group there as well, should you desire to drop in and harass them some. This year's page for EVGA's Formula BOINC.

Thanks. Our goal started out with just taking 1st in our league. We got more support and eventually shifted our goal to having a higher score than Gridcoin. Not a whole lot of competition in League 3 though. We should have been in League 2 the whole time. Next year hopefully we dominate it as well.

We have a few EVGA members who post (or at least used to) on our forums. Haven't seen them in a while though.

Yeah... it is better when they come to our forums because there are a few in their forums that are a bit thin skinned when it comes to competitive banter. Usually best to stick to the facts when posting there. I have helped a few of their members quite a bit in the background. Over at H we love a good s**t talking/stiring. Gets the old blood a going for some good competitive spirit. Despite our competitive banter, we still want to maximize the science overall. Our forums had been a bit quiet for a while and is nice that some old blood is returning. [H]Skillz has done an amazing job at recruiting this year. A big portion of this year's success goes to him.
