These Master Replicas never come with batteries though that would have been nice since you need about $10-$15 worth for this sword depending on where you buy them.

No joke. Luckily I have a bag full I picked up from a camera store in HK when they were clearing them out. Finally something to use them in.

Has a bunch of higher res shots of the glow and non glow. And on the 2nd page is the box, which DOES look dang cheesy lol. Now I'll know what to look for The shots are all availible in 1600x1200 as well as the default they are at first. There's a little link under each pic when you view it.

whoa, that IS pretty nice. How do they get it to look like solid metal, yet glow uniformly?

I just returned from a TRU in Baltimore and all they had was an "Electronic Light 'N' Sound Sting Sword" for $14.98. Didn't see anything about Master Replicas, just Toy Biz and Marvel. Takes 2 "AA" batteries. Doesn't sound like the same item to me.

Just got back from the OKemos, MI (East Lansing) TRU, and I think I got the last one. I used the 20% off coupon and got it for $11.95 + Tax.

One thing to keep in mind is this takes 2 lithium #123 camera batteries, something you probably don't have on hand at home! I checked at BestBuy.com and you can a 2pack for about $12.99. Funny that I'll pay more for the batteries than the sword!

Thanks OP!

The picture link I pasted above has pictures of the box, so you can check that to make sure you get the right thing. And yes, it does have light and sound.

It's pretty neat, very much like the effect of a Timex Indiglo watch, only over the entire blade.

the blade is actually made of two layers, the middle core and an outer coating. the middle core looks to either be made of metal or something metal coated (because it glows as well - that's why i suspect it is metal coated). the outer coating is made of polycarbonate (as in plastic) and it somehow has an electroluminescent glow when electricity passes through it. since the polycarbonate is an uniform layer, that's why it has an uniform glow.

actually i'm not sure if the exterior glows, i haven't taken it apart yet. but it is made of the two layers, with the materials as i described.

Check eBay, I found a guy there selling several for $30 including shipping and batteries. From what I understand the batteries for this sword are worth $10 to $12 so you wouldn't be paying much of a premium over TRUS. I would link, but I don't think it is allowed. And no, I am not the person selling them, but I did buy two from him. They should arrive this week.

Glad I got em for $15. At $15, I'll spring for the batteries...

Damn, don't tell me you cleaned out the one at Castor and Cottman.

I cleaned out Franklin Mills and then went to Oxford Valley. Dude at Lawrenceville, NJ store which I called from Burlington NJ store said computer showed 6 at Oxford Valley and 7 at Franklin Mills. I called both places, OV said their computer showed 0 and they couldn't find any. FM said computer showed 7 but they couldn't find them so they thought it was 0. I figured they didn't know their a from a hole in the ground so I did a physical road trip. I was stunned to find the 5 at FM. I might head to DE if my pm comes back....

Here's the linky http://www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/pgrfnbr/423/sesent/00

Since some of you are buying quite a few of these, perhaps you should take advantage of the volume discount on these batteries too;-)

Good deal but shipping kills it for me...

None left here in Vegas! The SKU is 509739. I ran into an employee that seen them when they came in and didn't even look at them that closely. He figured they were just a toy. He turned out to be a huge LOTR geek, and was bummed when I told him that it was a replica. He helped me scan all the TRU's around, but to no avail! Bummer!
