I'm from Pakistan. I can get a EVGA 660ti for $350 and HIS/Gigabyte 7950 for $400. I'm currently using a GTX 470. I'm looking to play Max Payne 3, BL2, TL2, Batman AC, Witcher 2 and looking forward to playing Total War: Rome2.

My GTX 470 gives plays well at med-high settings but I don't mind a little upgrade.

I have a 2500k @ 4.3GHZ and 8 GB Ram.

At that resolution, I'm inclined to say 7950. But looking at the games you play, the 660 Ti might be enough. Look at some reviews of the games you play at the resolution you play and see if the 7950 is worth $50 more to you.

HD 7950, no contest. The GTX 660 Ti's performance tanks once you take high resolutions like 2560 and AA into account.

Of course, if you overclock, it's not even close. The HD 7950 overclocks by 35-50% depending on the sample and the GTX 660 Ti by 10-15%. This is without taking into account the HD 7950 is already ~7% faster stock at 2560.

7950 for that resolution, the 660 TI will hit the memory/bus limit and tank in performance let alone with MSAA turned on.

I am amazed at how awesome the rates are in Pakistan.

In India, a 7950 starts at $500+ and a 660ti around $450ish.

Anyway, 7950 is worth it. ESP once oced.

7950, but I'd be inclined to say that for me at 2560x1440 no single card would be sufficient. In this case a 7950 is easily better than a 660ti.

7950 with a decent overclock will play everything fine @ 1440p, no contest here.

A high oc 7950 will play 95% of popular games at 1440p maxed out though you may need to disable AA. But everything else including SSAO and shadows can usually be maxed out, most of the times.

Another chime in for a 7950. Having a memory bus that is literally double the width will pay big dividends down the road.

More like 15-20%. At max overclocks they are about 10% apart compared to each other

On my Galaxy 660 Ti I get adaptive vsync'd 60 fps @ 1440p ultra Battlefield 3 downsampled to 1080p. Without MSAA, which at 1440p is not really needed. TXAA is also coming in the future.

Nevertheless, for 1440p going forward, 7950 is the better choice

7950. Gigabyte Windforce should be good.

In some of those games, 660Ti really performs poorly at high resolution.

Wrong.

A 7970 overclocks 20-30%+ and a 7950 overclocks 25-40%+

And I am assuming nearly sure shot oc not max possible.

I finally got the Gigabyte 7950. OCed it a little@ 1.125v, 1050/1400 Temps go to 74? Is that a good overclock? I don't want to push the voltage too high because ambient temperatures can get really high here.
