ok, i have this computer for about a month and half now. At first I was only overclocking be the multiplier. its a oem t-bird 850, I got it stable at 950 at 1.80 volts.
by the way i'm using a msi pro2a (i got it for only $115 shipped, and its been good to me)
I didn't do the bridges very good, so it won't post at 900, only 950+. I don't have very steady hands so don't feel like doing the bridges over.
Okay, after about a month I decided screw multiplier overclocking lets go FSB.
I upped it to 108 and it remains stable on default voltage. Screw that, upped it to 109 had to disable 4x AGP (no biggie) and had to set ram at cas3 (no biggie). Upped it to 110, set vcore to 1.80. Running stable at 850@935.
Problem now is that when I up it to 111 FSB I start to get errors. I can get into windows run most programs okay but when I run say 3dMark2000 it gets F#*ked up.
Okay, heres the thing I know it can go up to 112 FSB if I set the Ram down (i got this one stick of pc133 cas2 ram) . So what i'm asking is well I get a performace boost setting this baby up to 112 FSB with my Ram running slower at 100+ Cas2, or stick with 110 FSB running the Ram at 133+ cas3.
If I set it to 112 FSB, i'll get about 15-17 more MHZ. I want to tweak this baby to maximum. Thanks for the info.
edit: i got all the other stuff, arctic silver, fop38. Temperature constant at about 39-40 degrees C. Highest is 42 degrees C. temps taken for MBM 5/bios
some more edits: decided to stick to 850@935, wasn't worth the extra 17 mhz for slower ram.
