<< also, if you're lucky, you can get more than 2 per trip, some dude said he got 10 games for $14 over at slimwallet. now that's a hot deal. i could only manage 6 myself for $10. of course, it all depends on the games you get, but most of you probably got the picture by now. and most BB's are cleaned out, but they said they'll be stocking up again before the week's out...so if you missed out... >>

I got the 10 for $14. That was one f---ed up receipt. On the 34 titles I've bought since then, I've been averaging about $2.50 per title. My strategy is pairing $15 titles with $5 titles. Yea, I have a few dupes with those $5 ones, so I'll have to fleabay or resell to get them out of my inventory. There are a lot of decent $15 titles out there!

People, if this deal does not work for you, go to a different store. Do not call corporate, do not print out this thread and take it to the store and whine about someone else's experience. You'll just end up killing this deal.

Although they've managed to make this offer confusing enough for store and customer alike, if you take two titles (Sydney 2000 is an exception)up to the register, the two titles will ring up at $5 off each and when they update the total, you'll see another $5 come off. This is how they intended this to work.

Some of us have managed to get another $10 per pair because the store personnel are confused, or they're not, and their honoring another $10 off to make up for Best Buy's piss-poor execution of this promotion.

Like the saying goes, "your mileage may vary". I've got shot down at 1 out of 5 stores. Another one had an epiphany after working things out for me (20 x $2-$2.49 game purchase!), and may have killed it already too.

Good luck...

OK THIS IS BULLSH*T
Just got back from best buy. Now they tell me that each game has already been marked down 5 bucks
and when you get 2 games you get the ten off and the additional 2.50 per game which equals a
discount of 15 dollars.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE POST A RECIEPT SO I CAN SHUT THERE LITTLE FACES

I got my receipt scanned and ready to upload but it seems that .bmp is not very internet friendly. How can I change it into a .jpg or something more internet friendly?

SilentBob you can use a graphics program like Photoshop or if you use an NT OS like Win2k or NT you can use the native application Imaging under Accessories to open the file then save it as a .jpeg

or "save a copy as..."

ok, i went back today to dispute my claim. so here's my story:

1) bought tony hawk's and virtual on for 12.50 each yesterday (2.50 off 15)
2) disputed at register. manager came over and said no
3) i complained (used false advertising and bait-and-switch methods)
4) manager wouldn't balk
5) i asked for corporate number to complain. he gave me that.
6) i called last night. CSR talked to fellow CSRs and understood that the ad could be misinterpreted.
7) CSR told me to go back and get $15 off and gave me his direct number in case store wanted to call him
8) went back this morning and talked to CSR. she called her manager and the manager okayed it
9) i lost the $2.50 off each but got $15 off both at the end.
therefore i got both games for $7.50 each.

i complained on the basis that it said that sale "applies to dreamcast purchases only"
i said that buying a VMU or game is considered a "dreamcast purchase". what the ad meant was a "dreamcast console purchase" but wasn't stated that way. so we have a case here. vague description on BB part. anyways, west l.a. BB is pretty much cleaned out unless you want the two games i mentioned above.

good luck to all

My Receipt

Take note that the games were marked as $9.99 on the shelf but on the receipt it says they were "regualrly" 5 bucks and it took off $2.50. It doesn't matter though because it still comes out to $15 off $20.

Being a GREAT brother, I gave my sisters my Dreamcast as a Christmas gift recently (cuz I'd pre-ordered & got *without standing in line* a PS2 on Oct 26th for FREE -- I'll get back to that in a PS at the bottom...). Anyway, being a REALLY GREAT brother, I read this thread to get them a deal for their upcoming birthday (okay, that really means that the deal is mine cuz these games will be birthday presents anyway). And having read through the threads, I believe I got the mongo deal of the bunch ('cept for that guy averaging $2+ per game, unreal!!!) at my Best Buy in Richmond, VA this evening. Here goes:

 • Legacy of Kain $4.99
 • Speed Devils $4.99
 • Tony Hawk Pro Skater $19.99

So, where's the deal? Okay, seems the BB system gave me $5 off at the register (by taking each of the $4.99 games to $2.49 each. Of course, I quickly pointed out to the young fellow (with 3 earrings in one ear) that I was supposed to get $15 off for purchasing more than 2 games. He studied the circular with an ever-so-quizical look...then scurried off to get his manager. Cool...this one had only 2 earrings (thus more IQ, right?). Study, study, review, ponder, mmmmm, "Yes sir, you're correct...let's get that discount straight for ya right away!"

So what's he do? That's right, he overrides the Tony Hawk to $4.99 (ya know...to give me the $15 off for purchasing 2 or more games). Been paying attention??? Remember, the BB system ALREADY gave me $5 off against the first two games.

Final result??? All three games came in at $10.42 (incl VA sales tax).

MMMMMmmmmmm...tasty deal!!! Thanks SinMen!!!

-w1ngman

PS. Oh yeah...'bout that free PS2? I have a Toys R Us VISA credit card. It gives me credit vouchers for future purchases based on charges (you know the routine...). Well, since I use this credit card for my company travels (motels, airfare, rental cars, etc.) and every personal thing I possibly can -- AND pay it off faithfully w/ no finance charges of course -- anyway...I had over $500 worth of vouchers on Oct 26th. Mmmmm... Highly recommend this credit card if you are a console gaming nut!!!

Oooh, just picked up numbers 49 and 50 tonight. Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Sega Rally 2 for $2.49 each!

Man, you should've thrown in another juicy $15 title to go with extra $5 one you picked up!

For all the sceptics or people who do run into problems at their local best buy's, I've spoken to a CSR rep named Fred at the BB main number 800-369-5050 and he reviewed the deal going on and confirmed that:
1. You don't need to buy a Dreamcast to get the discount
2. While it should only work for up to 2 games, you can put any more than that on separate tickets.
He said he would send an e-mail to the manager at my local store telling him about the correct interpretation of the deal (I was originally was told I had to buy a Dreamcast and could only get 2 games). If any of you have problems, I suggest doing this, it was priceless to see the look on his face when I returned and had 50 games at the checkout counter!

Yah, well that isn't my damn problem. Today I went back to get my reciept corrected, get money back, and hopefully buy more games...but the dumb-arse BB morons thwarted that plan. A 15 year old manager told me:

"See, this is complicated...there are 5 dollars off each game already, so you got 15 off, m'kay..."
I replied: "Yes, but in the ad it says 15 dollars off of the package, and that there isn't an instant 5 off on a single game."
He replies: "Yes, sir...but if you look at the reciept, there is a 5 dollar instant discount on each game"
I said: "Are you listening to me...Look at the ad, it saiys that there is not a 5 dollar instant discount off of 1 game."

....he then went on to explain the same damn thing over again, and as some of you know...IT IS PRETTY FRIGGEN HARD TO REASON WITH AN INCOMPETANT MORON! BB ain't gettin' my damn money anymore.

Call up their corporate office on 800-369-5050 and get it sorted out.

I bought 2 more games yesterday and the Manager refused the $15 off the total saying the system had already taken $15 off. When I showed him the receipt for the earlier games I had bought at a different BB he had the gall to say, "You had a windfall there but it's not happening here".

So I called BB corp today and the CSR has sent an email to the store authorizing the additional money to be refunded to me. I'll go in tomorrow and get the my receipt adjusted.

As they say 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease'

Man, when I worked at the mall selling video games I always helped people rip off my store as much as possible via the deals and such, since my $7/hr wasn't changing with sales or anything. However, it really isn't fair to say all these people are stupid simply because they are trying to explain to you that you already got the $15 off. They ARE correct, you guys are just getting an extra deal because a stupid person works in the advertising department and didn't realize AnandTech readers would be analyzing their ads for loop-holes.

I second that, jfunk. The sales people are not all stupid. They are just doing their job. If you get in the deal, great. If not, try to call corporate or another store.
