this isn't for me it's more of a "what's your wishlist" type of thing

I'll bite with this $1500 build. It doesn't include a KB/M or monitor because I already have ones that I like. If the KB/M and monitor are technically requirements, I would get a cheap Dell set for like $10, drop a 7970, and buy a 1440p Korean monitor.

I'm pretty happy with the build I'm putting together in my thread. It's currently around $1100. If I had $1500 that I had to spend or lose I'd probably tack on a new monitor and a nice pair of headphones or something.

I dunno, I can't really agree. Intel solidly owns this price point, and you're spending $150 on an overspecced PSU while buying a very price-inefficient 500GB drive.

Indeed. FX-6300 is a CPU wouldn't mind seeing in a sub $1000 setup (incl os and peripherals) if the user is an overclocker. But for a $1500 setup, Intel is the only option. This is especially true with a 120hz monitor - while the FX-6300 would drive a 7950 fine at 60 fps in most games, it would seriously choke when trying to reach 100+ fps.

The PSU and case in that build are also overkill, and I'm not sure it's a good idea to spend $180 on keyboard and mouse out of a $1500 budget.

not enough CPU, too much video card, too much on the HSF, way too much power supply, a few dollars too short on the hdd, and probably way too much on the kbd/mouse set.

i'd just go with the sticky and add the kbd/mouse and monitor

i was more looking at the $329, but when paired with an FX6300 i'm guessing the processor is a bottleneck.

You can get a very nice monitor, kb, mouse setup for $500, which is important because those are the pieces of the computer that you actually interact with.
