they should teach forum posting etiquette in school...

like : If you are asking for help mention the following...ooor if you have a fun fact, link to the source, etc.

I don't wanna go to apple store just to waste my time. That's what internet is for.

Do you want me to post YOUR threads and ask if you took any action before posting? If so why do people post online at all? They should all just do their fvcking research and everyone should be experts.

The headphones or the jack? If it's just the headphones, go to Target and buy whatever cheapie Philips or Sony set they've got lying around, it'll sound better than those crappy pack-ins.

It's a known problem with iPods... they cause dark matter to slow down just enough to clog one of the buds.

No, really, though, what's the big deal? The earbuds that come with the iPod are complete garbage. Just buy some Koss KSC-75s for about $12 and be done with it, and have far superior sound to boot.

Another uneducated responses. I spent $30 on a sony replacement and they sound like absolute crap on my shuffle (And this was highly touted best headphones for its price range).

Keep in mind, the shuffle headphones are designed directly to match the iPod so they sound good together. Unless you plan on shelling out extravagant $$ for headphones, getting the factory replacement is far better than a crappy ass third party brands that'd sound like ass.

Come on ATOT, I thought you were better than this. Nothing but trolling?

My iPod sounds approximately twelve million times better with Koss KSC-75s than with the stock earbuds. Not all headphones are the same. I wouldn't ever buy a pair of sony headphones in the first place. Do a little research next time.

KSC-75 is not even earbuds. I need the earbuds for listening to them while I'm snowboarding.

the headphones that come with the ipods suck anyway, uncomfortable as hell. v-moda ftw.

however, everything i've bought at apple has been entered into the computers, so they can check the serial number and tell how long i have left on my warranty. i'd suggest hitting up the apple store and getting replacements unless 1) you didn't buy it there or 2) you're out of warranty.

as for specially designed... the ones my dad got with his shuffle look exactly like the ones i got with my ipod video, so i'm not sure who told you that.

Yes, that makes sense. I always prefer buds that fall out of the ear easily when I'm doing any sort of athletic endeavor over ones that are fairly secure.

Sorry man but he's right. The least you could have done is call Apple and ask someone who can officially answer your question. You really should do all your research, especially on something as simple and menial as this quandary.

if he's snowboarding chances are his ears are covered, which would help keep the earbuds in.

I'm guessing your talking about Sony Fontopias, right? I had a pair before moving on to Shure E2C, and then E4C (the extravagant phones you speak of) and they sounded fine on my 4G U2 iPod, my computer, etc. The problem isn't the headphones, it's the source. Shuffles probably have a weak as balls amp. The pack-in headphones aren't 'designed directly to match the iPod so they sound good together', they're crappy low resistance/impedance headphones that sound good with a weak source. Sounds like someone complaining that race fuel isn't doing any good in their Pinto.

weird.

i too have a shuffle but its a first generation shuffle.

recently the left headphone also cuts off, but if i jiggle the control around it cuts back on. but it'll go back out sometimes if i move it around.

however it's not the headphones, its internal to the ipod because i've tried 2 other sets of headphones and they all have this same problem.
