Newegg & Patriot just upped the ante on the rebate gamble. How about 16 GB in 8 GB sticks for $84.99 after a large $100 rebate. The deal just got harder to resist - Newegg reduced the pre-rebate price by another $75.
Patriot Gamer 2 Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
Specs look decent as well - 1.5v, 9-9-9-24
Don't you need 16 GB with two open DIMM slots?

Very few reviews at this point & one stated that it would not work in his ASRock Z68.
Still - only a good deal if you need (ok - want) 8GB sticks. Otherwise you can still get 16 GB in 4GB chunks for the same or slightly lower cost without the life-threatening (wife) rebate.
But come on - how many of you have 1 MB SDRAM (or 256MB sticks) in the drawer today that you just won't use because it takes up a good DIMM slot.

You better be good at rebates. Although it is reported that Patriot rebates are usually good, it is a multi-step process that requires filling out an internet form & then mailing in the printed rebate with proof of purchase & other such details to make it harder to do correctly.
