My card is running 510/550 atm with stock cooling 100% fan speed. So far no lock ups or artifacts. temp is around 63C

Once my new zalman cooler comes in, I will bump up the speed to match X850 XT PE I believe 540/590?

Put the card in my system and realized PCI E x16 is right above the only PCI slot (already installed a 7.1 sound card). Heat could easily trapped between. So much for the cooling solution, and forget about the aftermarket fan since it won't fit.
The board is the Tyan Thunder K8SE from AMD Tech tour 2005.

I wonder if I could plug it into the x4 slot and still overclock it to beat X850xl.

I'm using ATITools version 0.24, and overclocked my GTO2 to 540MHz core, 590MHz memory...and unlocked mine to 16pipes (basically a X850XT PE), but I feel its slower/less performance than my 6800GT @ 6800 Ultra speeds (I tested Day of Defeat: Source at max EVERYTHING settings...like 6xAA and 16x AF and full HDR at 1280x1024).....and I got like 40FPS-70FPS on the 6800GT, but only like 24-32FPS on this X800GTO2 -> X850XT PE. I thought the X850XT PE was better than the 6800 Ultra? And aren't ATI cards supposed to perform better in Half-Life 2 games?

@Hellfire88 - ATITool should work fine and I think you've achieved a good oc. Have you run any other benchmarks? It sounds like there may be a driver or other software issue. Did you run DriverCleaner or something similar before installing the ATI drivers? I moved a 6800GT (at less than ultra speeds) when I installed my GTO2 (at XT speeds) and in Source-based games the GTO2 is a little faster at equivalent settings. It's also possible there could be something wrong with your card.

yea, I used Driver clean pro to clean up my nvidia drivers before I installed the GTO2. The GTO2 should be faster in source-based games, as you said. But my real-world results are much the opposite. Previously, I ran the game at 1280x1024 res, and MAX settings (I mean EVERYTHING maxed out...6x AA, 16x AF) and I was getting 40-70FPS on my 6800GT @ Ultra speeds.

Now I'm trying to play the game at the exact same resolution and settings, and I get about 25-34FPS.....I really hope I don't have to do a clean install, as I though driver cleaner was supposed to be pretty good (I ran both the CAB cleaner and the driver cleaner), but I'm not quite sure what to do. ATITool found my max core to be about 560MHz, and my max memory speed to be about 630MHz, so this card seems to be a decent overclocker. I'm not sure why its performance is so poor at 540core, 590memory (X850XT PE speeds). And yes, all 16pipelines are unlocked. Anyone share a similar experiance?

@hellfire88 - Those are puzzling results. My HL2 frame rates are higher with the GTO2 but I don't often notice a difference in playability. I hope that you are able to get it sorted out. BTW, I would say your card's oc is more than just decent - I wish mine was that good.
