Maxtor is almost always first to the market with the bigger badder, denser platters.

Both drives are really quite. I have a 160 GB Hitachi SATA drive and its very very quit. The hitachi is a little bit better performing drive but i don't think you are going to notice this in real world cases. The segate definitly has the SUPERIOR warranty (5 years). My hitachi only came with a year. I definitly would jump on this deal if your in need of a hard drive. The only draw back to this deal is its not a SATA drive which i prefere but for the price why not.

Well if you look at it price wise the seagate is a good deal but the WD 250 is a better one. without taking in the price of shipping and just looking at the price after rebates

Seagate = $3.2 per GB
WD = $2.5 per GB
