Ok guys,
I finailly got a Asus A7v266-e a Alpha-Pal 8045 w/YS-tech fan and a Athalon XP1600 processor I applied artic silver exactly as the web site states installed my Alpha (had a little trouble once I got to the fan shroud part) check my jumpers (I had decided to use the jumper free till I burned it in) and.........Nothing so I unmount my motherboard put it on a cardboard box pull every card but my vidieo card and zip so I take the Alpha off and there is some discoloration of the artic silver DAMM! I've read these stories here now I'm part of one.
So I install my old P2b and PIII500 to write this
Could this have been my fault? I should've probobly reversed to procedue that I followed (First assembly out of the case) but is it common for xp's to fail on the first power up? also my xp was green like a intel not yellowish like the first pictures it' was a AGKGA I'm so bummed right now this is a OEM processor so I gotta send it right back, The core isn't cracked I just hope it's not pilot error
