So title sums it up, I'm debating between a 160gb Intel and OCZ Agility2 on newegg.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227689 for $230

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-055-_-Product for $285

I'm not the biggest fan of OCZ after their recent stunts but for this price I'm leaning towards the Agility 2. From most benchmarks it looks like I won't notice much of a difference between the two for what I do (games mostly). Anyone have exprience with either of these drives that could chime in?

No experience with either, but I do own several G1 and G2 Intel SSDs. The Agility 2 is a previous year model and technology and I would not pay that much for it. The Intel is brand spanking new and is at a price premium and I wouldn't pay that much for it either.

If you don't need a drive right now, I'd wait. If you have to buy one and can make a sacrifice in GB, I'd take a look at the 128GB range varieties. The Intel G2 and Kingston 2010/2011 SSDs are frequently on sale for approximately $200 and $140 respectively. Yes others will raise a stink about Kingston's 1st line of SSDs (slow-ish writes, rarely lagged), but as you probably know by now with everyday use, maybe even HEAVY everyday use any SSD with a controller introduced from the past year will be hard to tell from one other blind tested.

for sata2, there's really nothing that can topple the intel 320 now. it's the perfect overall balanced ssd

Yah, unfortunately I can't really go smaller and the 256+gb drives are a little bit out of my price range currently, guess I'll keep an eye on things. I'd like to wait for a better price on the 300gb but if I can't that Intel 160gb might be my option. Thanks for the input so far.

you know... you could always get that 160GB intel and buy a second one later on and raid0 them together and get the performance of the fastest sata3 drives on your sata2 board. i had G1s in raid0 for over 2 years and it barely made a dent in their drive overall drive life. the 320s are even better!
