We need a "Sad" like-ability.I just had a GPU go down. It started throwing bad WUs, and continued wherever I put it. So, my output is going to drop.
One of my better cards too. (2080ti)
Color me steamed, as if it isn't hot enough around here.
If someone on the moonshot gang can pitch in a little extra it would be nice. Or maybe one of the Marauders is feeling generous.
I think I am going to need some help to stay in the game. Maybe froze the teams too early ? Thats a big difference.@biodoc's stats of tomorrow will be the first to show the actual effect of the end of the PG challenge.

If you ever find some quiet time plus feel motivated to look into your network's internals, I would recommend looking into static leases (if you use DHCP) or static IP addresses for all your hosts. This would eliminate most of the issues you're describing.Well, I had a few hours disruption.... So I got a new xfi Xfinity gateway. It was supposed to be faster and free. So I put it in. Little did I know it would be a nightmare to setup. And I was off-line for hours, and IP addresses changed, and units corrupted.
There do not seem to be any concise rules, so I would think fair is whatever you consider to be fair. I personally have no issues with anybody renting hardware.I wonder if it would be fair to add just enough rented capacity to make up for my deficit during the PG challenge?
I have that figure as ~35.5 M, not 94 M...
The numbers in #277 are PrimeGrid credits, hence do not quantify F@H deficits.I have that figure as ~35.5 M, not 94 M...
Sounds good to me, we are loosing a lot every day !I wonder if it would be fair to add just enough rented capacity to make up for my deficit during the PG challenge?

Ever consider selling off any of your old hardware that isn’t worth turning on for you? Could help recoup the cost of the newest cards anyway.Sounds good to me, we are loosing a lot every day !
Also, as someone said, I was making 2 million a day at PG, and the 2 cards are now doing 12 million ppd, so its not even close as to the points you make there. I missed 120 million points doing PG, and I have no way to make it up. Money is maxed, so I can't rent hardware either. I spent $3000 between the 2 cards, and hardware to support them, so I am broke (not counting the super high $750 electric bill).
The old cards (1060,1070TI) that I don't turn on are the only video card I have for those systems. The 1070TI is in my "work" pc, a 2970wx that crunches WCG 24/7. The other one is a E5-2683v3 running 24/7, and I can't sell that CPU for even $100, so I am keeping it for now.Ever consider selling off any of your old hardware that isn’t worth turning on for you? in my own search for new hardware, microcenter had multiple 3090s listed for sale in Friday. I figured I would grab one today and there was no way they would sell them all today. How wrong I was…
I’m considering buying a 6900XT since they are actually available, but I’m not terribly happy with my 6700XT when it comes to folding. Pretty sure i would regret doubling down on AMD at this point in the product cycle.
Have you tried turning down the power usage cap on that GPU? It might work again, slower. I find that if I let my 1060 get above 70C it starts throwing errors.I just had a GPU go down. It started throwing bad WUs, and continued wherever I put it. So, my output is going to drop.

Well, some of your alternatives were to stay all-in in F@h and either skip PG or exclusively rent for PG. Considering the latter option, the only 'unfair' aspect of renting some after the fact to make up for the PG-induced F@h deficit would be that you can decide on this and implement it ad hoc, without prior planning.I wonder if it would be fair to add just enough rented capacity to make up for my deficit during the PG challenge?
A forum search shows some rules last posted ahead of the 14th Annual Folding@Home Holiday Season Race. I am quoting just this one for future reference: ;-)There do not seem to be any concise rules, so I would think fair is whatever you consider to be fair.

So then I degraded that to 5 M during the 10 PG days, i.e. let down my fellow Moonshot Gangsters by 25 M.StefanR5R - xii5ku - 7.5 M - full month
I plan to align PPD with the heating requirements of the apartment, but for now I think these 7.5 M should fit.
Something like a Matrox card or a Radeon 5450 could be purchased for ~$20 for each of those machines if all you need is display output. You should be able to easily sell the 1070ti here for $350+ and the 1060 depending if it's a 3GB or 6GB card would sell pretty quickly at $200+. A 2060 would probably go for $400 or more in the current environment. (I'm conservative in my price estimates because the FS/T section of this forum doesn't have a lot of traffic. eBay would be higher of course)The old cards (1060,1070TI) that I don't turn on are the only video card I have for those systems. Everything else is running now, except one 2060 that's in a 2990wx, that I can't turn on due to power limits, but will use it later when things calm down. (January)
Yep, tried that to no avail. But thanks for the suggestion.Have you tried turning down the power usage cap on that GPU? It might work again, slower. I find that if I let my 1060 get above 70C it starts throwing errors.
