What you mean nice try? Who cares who gets the credit, I never saw the other post so this is the one that tells me about it. The other post goes back further then I would have looked. Maybe this thread starter didn't see the origional either.

This is an ok deal, but you have to wait for the rebate. You can get a Liteon 16x drive for $93 shipped without rebate.

Unless you absolutely have to have SCSI, just get the IDE drive.

Don't believe the in-stock status.....

I'm still waiting for my HP 9900Ci to ship...it's been a week now, and it's still on backorder....yet the site shows it has &quot;ships within 24-48 hrs...&quot; I only bought from them cuz it was &quot;in stock&quot;.

Their support is quick to answer my questions, but won't budge on updating their site.....jerks.

Anyhow...good luck getting it.

Who said it's a Plextor? I think they used to be, but now they are Lite-on. I think the Lite-on is a good drive but as someone else mentioned you can get it at Newegg for about the same price with the hassle of a rebate.

You are correct, you can't beat a Plextor. But this drive is a Lite-on. Other posters who have gotten the Iomega from Buy.com have reported that the drive they have received is not a rebadged Plextor. Only the first batch of Iomega's were from Plextor, those sold out quickly and everywhere had them on backorder, all new Iomega 161040 are Lite-On rebadges. There was a overheating problem with the Plextors that the firmware revision took care of, however the Iomega did not support the upgrade without flashing it to make it appear as a Plextor instead of an Iomega. This was covered in previous threads.
